My OEM Pirellis bit the dust at ~ 19k (2023 Adv R1S).

I opted for the Generals, and the efficiency hit is alarming. I understand the Ps were special for Rivian, and their efficiency would top any 3rd party options, but holy shit. I was averaging 2.3-2.4 mi/kwh (416-434 wh/mi) lifetime, and more around town. In the 50 miles I've had the Grabbers, in almost exclusively around town driving, I'm seeing under 1.7 mi/kwh (588 wh/mi). Ooof. It's a much bigger hit than i anticipated.

Tire shop is offereing a no-cost swap. Are Nokians going to be enough better to warrant? Any other options aside from the expensive, and poor ride quality, Pirellis?

50 miles is not really long enough IMO to make a judgment on that... What are others here with those tires getting?

It will take thousands of miles to break in the tire to get better efficiency but they will never be as good as the P’s.

I average around 2.2 on the Michelin Defenders. They have been great all around.

I’ve been happy with my Nokian One HT’s. Got them in July. I can’t say I have any solid data on if they’re better / worse for efficiency. I took them on a 2,000 mile road trip and did not notice any difference. I’ve been extremely happy with how they perform in the snow. They are slightly noisier. For less than half the price ($240 vs. $575 (Pirelli) the 10-15% increase in noise was justified. $240 is what I paid at Discount Tire. Maybe they’re more now. I also think they are blooming a lot more than the Pirellis did, so there is a little more upkeep required. I know that some may say that if I own a $100K vehicle, I should expect to pay $2,500 on tires. Not if they wear out in 20K miles.

Brand new tires with thicker tread (more squirm = more rolling resistance) will never match worn tires, factory or not. I suspect as you wear the tire down the efficiency will improve.
