I was looking for a solution to protect the back of the third row seat backs as I need to move a digital piano and guitars every week that requires the 3rd row seats to be down. They sell the full floor liner, but I put the seats up and down so often the seat back solution would be better.

I ordered a set of these off Walmart.com:

https://3dmatsusa.com/products/seat...tback&_ss=e&_v=1.0&model=MjAyM0BSSVZJQU5AUjFT

I installed Velcro with adhesives on the top part so they are removable but will stay in place when the seats are up. The bottom part needs to be free moving since when the seats are up they need a place to go.

When seats are flat either with the slight bump or when the panel is moved up to provide a flat bed they work perfectly.

When the seats are up however the bottom part needs somewhere to go and it extrudes backward over the liner behind the 3rd row. It then just needs to be tucked in.

Here are some pics.

Still the worst seat back protectors. I have them as well. The velcro it comes with does not stick at all. I don't like how it overlaps the trunk mat too.

I think they designed it mainly for the seat to be down (makes sense that’s when you really want to protect it) so i don’t think the fuzzy back is meant to be Velcro.

I don’t know how else they would design it since laying flat the coverage needs to be that much bigger than when the seats are up. Adding my own Velcro for the top part and just tucking it under the rear mats works fine when the seat is up.

I don’t use the third row. It would be great if one of the mat manufacturers would make a cargo mat similar to the one I had on My 2017 Ford Explorer or the one for the 2020 model that covered the third row. Also, add a extension to protect the back of the tailgate. As a one piece cargo mat.

Thank you for posting this. Awaiting for delivery of my R1S at the end of May. I wanted the Tux mats but luckily the 3D’s are in stock in Amazon. Curious as to what type of Velcro with adhesive did you use and how has it been holding up?

I had the 3DMaxpyder cargo liner and changed to Taxman.

The link shows before install, then scroll down to see installed in the seat back of 2nd and 3rd rows as well as the cargo area.
