Rivian Road Trip: Washington DC to Charleston SC

Rivian Road Trip!

After a fun series of events, my wife and I were presented with an opportunity and opted to fly up from Charleston, SC and take early delivery of our Rivian R1T tomorrow in Washington DC. We will be taking our "Adventure Vehicle" ownership seriously and road tripping back home over the next few days.

We will Try to meet other Rivian reservation holders on the route back home, so if you are close and want to meet at a charger, let me know and I'll keep you posted on our progress!

This will be our longest EV road trip, first without the Super Charger Network, and I think one of the longest undertaken by a Rivian Owner so far.

According to our Rivian Guide we are among the first Rivians "delivered" in the state of SC as well, so this is quite a weekend lol.

In all seriousness lived in that area around Charlottesville for a few years. It’s gorgeous. Enjoy the drive!

Awesome! I just took delivery in DC area as well. This weekend will be first few real days of exploring with the truck. So far love it and I am sure you will. Cool that you get to road-trip home and share along the way!

As a fellow SC I’m curious if this came about as a one off ‘we have your configuration sitting in DC’ opportunity or if this is how things will go for all us SC residents for a while?

I am up in the Columbia area. We were supposed to have our truck delivered last week but it was damaged on the way. So they will deliver to us in SC, if that's what you are asking.

At the risk of making this an SC focused conversation, did you have any difficulties with paying SC taxes on the purchase? For those of us who are SC residents, this is a pretty big deal obviously.
