Ok…A/C issue recap. The first hot spell 3 weeks ago, my A/C failed miserably. Couldn’t get the cabin temp below 80 on a 2hr return drive from a golf trip.

Brooklyn SC squeezed me in to deal with this problem alone. Several minor issues will need to wait the ~3mo lag time for service. I headed out 12:45 last Fri, after working the morning. A thunderstorm followed me the entire way. Waze recommended the Holland tunnel, traversing Manhattan, the Williamsburg bridge and on to the SC in Brooklyn. The drive was less than fun….

Arrived there around 4:15 and after a bit of confusion over who was a customer and who was an employee, I was greeted by Jess who checked my vehicle in. She explained the average turnover time for service was 10 days but would keep me posted. She then called an Uber to take me to Enterprise for a rental to return home. Uber driver dropped me across the street and after playing Frogger successfully, I enter the building to find an empty desk. After 10 min of impatient waiting, an employee appeared and informed me they have no cars available. I’m pretty sure my initial response wasn’t polite, so I quickly acknowledged that it wasn’t her fault, but how was I supposed to get home?! She offered to drive me to another Enterprise location, where they did in fact have cars to rent. I was ultimately given a BMW X2 which reeked of deodorizer and weed. I spent the next 90 min trying to navigate Fri evening traffic across midtown Manhattan, holding my cellphone for gps assistance. Breathed a sigh of relieve when I made it to 78 in Jerz for the 2+hr stretch back to PA and home. Rolled in about 9:15, completely done.

I was dreading the repeat journey all week when Thurs, Jess messaged to say the repair (A/C condenser sensor) was finished ahead of schedule. I inquired about their Sat. hours. My plan was to arrive the moment the doors unlocked and get out of the city ASAP. Next thing I know, my phone rang and it was Jess. She acknowledged that my service experience was “less than ideal” and as a courtesy, they would deliver my R1S the next day. Yesterday, I received a flurry of somewhat confusing messages by the transport company (they initial stated they had picked it up and would arrive in 120 min. Ummmm..only if they were using a helicopter!) My R1S arrived safe and sound, 4 1/2 hrs later and with perfectly functioning A/C.

A big thank you to Jess for sparing me the repeat trip. Hopefully, more service options will be forthcoming. Sticking one in the middle of a sprawling urban area just doesn’t make sense to me.

Thanks for the writeup. I have a similar issue with my R1T and had an appointment for July 7th in Sacramento to get it fixed, with a bunch of other issues waiting until August to be fixed.

Today I got a call from the Sacramento SC, they can fit me in this Wednesday. So I'll be making a 2 hour drive from Tahoe to drop it off. Hoping I have a better rental car and traffic experience than you did.

My AC works fine when it's not too hot. Not so fine when it's in the high 80s or into the 90s. I was in Bishop CA this afternoon and sat at a RAN charger for a bit. AC quit putting out cold air and it was cooler outside than inside. A few miles out of town and the AC started working fine again.
