I'm more partial to the A2Z adapter. Even the first gen Typhoon felt more robust than the OEM Tesla supplied Rivian one.

I carry both the new A2Z Typhoon replacement adapter and Rivian NACS adapters, but I reach for the A2Z 100% of the time at a Supercharger.

I don’t use SC that often, except for a 3-month period last Summer when I was living in an ancient rental while my house was being built and there was zero opportunity to charge at that house.

At that time, I had the Typhoon, which I ordered when they went on sale, and got it 6 months before I bought my R1T. I used the Typhoon this Summer, and after learning a few lessons on what not to do, I found the Typhoon was excellent—I just had nothing to compare it to. Then this Fall I got both the Typhoon Pro on the A2Z recall, and my official NACS adapter from Rivian, within just a few days of each other.

The next time I needed to use a SC I used the Tesla adapter. I thought it was the definition of “adequate“ but it didn’t have the same effect on me that the A2Z did. The Typhoon just felt better in the hand.

Our other car is an e-tron and Audi is supposed to get SC access this Summer. I’ll allocate one or the other to the Audi, unless Audi decides to send free adapters to its owners. Maybe the Audi will get the official Rivian/Tesla adapter.

Finally: Tesla may be considered the official source for NACS adapters, but Ford did contract with Lectron to make adapters for the Mach-e and Lightning owners who waited months for Tesla to catch up in manufacturing. Both Lectron and A2Z are built to very high engineering standards. I wouldn’t trust any of the anonymous stuff one sees on eBay but the Lectron and A2Z should be excellent for anyone.
