I just had mine in for several small reasons in Jan and they fixed everything for free. Even things others on this forum said they had to pay for. I think a lot of it comes down to how you explain the problem, how you ask for it to be fixed and your patience with them.
I have a 2022 launch with 30xxx miles.
Your adjustment period is the entire B2B warranty.

Do panels misalign over time? No. This is a policy intended to avoid paying to fix Rivian's manufacturing mistakes simply by taking advantage of the fact that some people may not initially notice them. All the while avoiding a spike in people rejecting delivery outright.

It's fraud to give a one year warranty but schedule repairs 3-4 months out. Now my warranty is effectively 8-9 months in length. These are scummy used car dealer tactics.

We can blame all the people with micrometers measuring panel gaps for this policy. I've seen a few bad ones, but most of the complaints are extremely minor that I've seen posted here and are all made into some world ending situation.

I THINK Rivian changed the body alignment warranty around 2022 year end. So if you have a 2022 the warranty is your B2B (60,000), if you have later then it is 12 months/12,000 miles. Just like the drive train/battery warranties are different by year & model/trim.

I think what the OP is trying to point out is Rivian has no obligation beyond the adjustment period.
But OP is dishonest in saying "but people should be aware that small adjustments (panel gaps, trim issues, and other small misalignmemts) are only covered under warranty for one year. "

Correct would be, in my experience; people should be aware that small adjustments (panel gaps, trim issues, and other small misalignmemts) are only covered under warranty for one year.

Umm, the Rivian warranty literally says:

1-year or 12,000-mile (whichever occurs first) adjustment warranty.

Not sure how I’m being dishonest when that is Rivian’s stated policy. The only exceptions are people who received delivery before June 7th, 2023 and others who were out of warranty but were comped adjustment work by the good graces of their local service center.

This is correct. And they did change it at the end of 2022.

I should have added I think something else just got limited to 3yrs/36,000. Brakes? I think that is it. BMW doesn't warranty their brakes at all any more. We bought an X5 and TriMax in last 15 months and I'm pretty sure Jessica told us that at Riv closing.

The OP is absolutely correct. Rivian has a warranty for that and it is the 1 year 12,000 miles adjustment period. Anything after that they can technically charge you. Just because your center was nice and did it for free does not mean they were obligated to do so.

It isn't "IN MY EXPERIENCE", it is what Rivian is legally obligated to do. The warranty is spelled out in detail in the owners manual.

Well here, in my experience they performed and adjustment way beyond either of those periods.

that’s because you have a 2022, you get free adjustments for the entire 5 year warranty. Everyone else from June 7th on only gets a year of free adjustments.

I bought mine used. I scheduled my appt before the 1 year was up but it got in after the one year. There were clearly issues with things that needed to be adjusted. They quoted me $1k to do it. I wasn't aware of the adjustment warranty limit before I went in until I got the estimate a day or two before my visit.

When I went in and spoke to them, they told me about it then and said it only applied to the original owner, unlike the other aspect of the warranty. I pushed them on it since it was so bad and showed them all the things I'd done to resolve some of the issues like recalibrating the windows. They said they see after they took the truck in. In the end, they took care of most of the adjustment issues, but there is one they didn't. There was no charge on the ones they took care of.

I wouldn't rely upon the mercy of the SC and I'd make sure I got my truck in early in case you have to go through a few cycles to get it fixed before the warranty expires.

As long as the issue is documented before 1y/12k mi then they will honor it. Tesla has a similar policy.

I have a delivery checklist and every Rivian owner should use that when. They take delivery. If issues are discovered file tickets immediately and notify your delivery guide if the issues are especially problematic you can either reject delivery until they’re fixed or reject the vehicle and ask to be matched with another VIN

As one who has bought new for decades, the one year adjustment warranty is pretty standard across car manufacturers. I am sure Rivian sees this and was just trying to normalize their business practices when they thought their QC was on par. Unfortunately, IMO Rivian’s QC for misalignments, wind noise, et., still falls short of competitors. Tesla is not the competitor to compare to as many here are wont to do. Rather GM, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, etc. for most buyers who are looking to make the jump to EV.

Yes, everyone should read the manual and warranty on an $80k-100k purchase.

There's also a distinct line between just fit, and eventual issues or panel loosening. I've had a panel replaced when it slowly worked itself loose much later than the year of coverage.
