Adjustment Warranty - does it include routine maintenance?

I'm planning to buy a Rivian in the states and been reading the warranty terms ahead of time. Quite confused with the 1 yr/12k miles adjustment warranty - does this include routine maintenance within the 12 months or just factory defects (say I need my air filter replaced just before the year ends)? And how would a Rivian service centre differentiate between the two?

Well if your air filter was defective yes; it’ll be replaced.
If it wasn’t defect it will not be replaced under warranty. Fully as expected.

The adjustment warranty is what we all used when we noticed misaligned panels, hoods that rub on the fender when they open/close, etc. It is not a maintenance plan whatsoever.

Two separate things. How are the two getting mixed up?
Adjustment: anything that is out of whack and result of poor build quality and quality control at the factory.
Maintenance: Rivian's recommended maintenance schedule.

My understanding is that it includes wear items or maintenance items that are the result of a defect.

for example, alignment, wheel balancing, filters, cosmetic issues etc.

normally those items would not be covered by warranty as they would be considered normal wear items or maintenance items.

Tesla for example will also cover NVH diagnostic charges within the adjustment warranty…but if your out of the adjustment warranty they typically charge you for NVH stuff if it’s not the result of a warranty item.

on my website I have an inspection checklist. It’s very important to thoroughly inspect your vehicle before accepting delivery. Noting any issues to your delivery guide as well as submitting service requests for each item.

if there are a lot of issues or a few significant issues you may consider rejecting the vehicle or delaying delivery until Rivian is able to address the issues identified.
