Not sure if this has been reported in here yet but I put one on a home scale tonight just to see.

I saw various reman/second hand websites saying 38-41 pounds so 35 is a pleasant surprise?

I forgot to weigh mine before dropping off with my tires and someone asked me later that day. Thanks for doing this!

Well.. I tried, and I failed. They pass the 10' rule, but not the 3' rule when looking at them. Too many bleeds through the masking... but tried to make them look less... 'Ram-like' ... and now they look horrifically cheap.... lol! Flat black, here we come!

My friend... You just inspired me for ideas with my powder coater on the next set I build. These look sweet! They could've gone for a final coat on the face, but the idea is great. Don't beat yourself up, you're 90% to greatness and 100% to inspiring!

Yeah… this was before they would have taken a clear coat… so they were unfinished…. But the 5 hours of meticulous masking and final prep were not to be… lol! Had the masking lines ended up razor sharp, I would have finished them… but my tires install next week and I need the paint to cure, so they are now all black and clear coated now. It could have looked cool, but the repair work would have taken a full day out of my weekend that I don’t have… lol!

Well the RoadReady Steelie has arrived - now to do a test fit for clearance. I assume I’ll only have to check front caliper/disc fitment.

I should be able to get that done this afternoon.

Well - it fits, bolts up and clears the caliper. Spins freely.

BUT - here’s my WTF - rated load 800kgs (found stamped on the wheel…) what the actual hell - that seems extremely low even for a Ram 1500.

… however, i cant find any with same specs - 116H load/speed rating. I dont think my local tire shop will knowingly install non-compliant load/speed rated on our R1S.
Print a copy of page 244 from the owner’s manual. While not technically a “specification,” it does use a 115 load index as an example.

For a Ram, I think that's within spec. Would match to a 3500lb GAWR.

Investigating further the GAWR is 3,900lbs for a 2008 1500 (across all body styles)

For an emergency spare - I’m okay using it - but for a full time snow wheel set I’m far less certain.

Received a confirmation email from the manufacturer RoadReady that the max capacity of the wheel is 1800 pounds.

I’ve started my return - so we can scratch this as an option for safe use.

Still waiting on a reply from ModernSpare for information on their steel wheel.

I think the question I would have to ask.. these are the aftermarket variant of the wheel for the Ram.. Does the OEM steelie have the same weight rating?
