Just learnt something new… that’s impressive the kinetic ride control…Doubt this is possible. The vehicle not only has air suspension but it has a kinetic ride control so it doesn't have sway bars or any of that.
The other issue is software. The drive modes and ride heights determine many different things like how the motors behave and how much power/torque are available. The absence of air suspension would likely make the truck inoperable.
I am hoping someone goes into business rebuilding all the components of the suspension systems in these trucks so that the only option isn't simply paying Rivian whatever they decide to charge for any of the components.Has anyone looked into what it would take to convert our air suspension to a conventional coil spring setup?
Would sure be great to have this option once the warranty runs out.
Do any of our vendors want to look into something like this?![]()
This is a great idea and I am sure options will appear. The good news is that I saw a stamping on one of the air shocks that says Monroe so its a big name that is producing them which is good.I am hoping someone goes into business rebuilding all the components of the suspension systems in these trucks so that the only option isn't simply paying Rivian whatever they decide to charge for any of the components.
Have 7 of them replaced in less than two years and then come back to that thought. I agree the suspension is awesome but it‘s also complicated and expensive to repair.Personally have no desire to go back to coil spring technology. Would you do that if you owned a McLaren? Rivan has one the most advanced production car suspension systems out there. Sure it can be improved upon but not with old school technology. Not many out there that can adjust height and firmness at the touch of a screen. Road truck to Rock climber. One of the best all around IMO.
Sorry to hear about your suspension failures, but mine has been flawless for 15k miles now, hence my statement. Standing by it from my experience.Have 7 of them replaced in less than two years and then come back to that thought. Also no, you are right no one would remove this type of suspension from a McLaren but not many people use a McLaren as a daily driver.
Well I have 50k. Just saying I understand OPs point of view and pointing out your comparisons to a McLaren are flawed. Also like I said I agree the suspension is awesome but it’s very much a love/hate relationship.Sorry to hear about your suspension failures, but mine has been flawless for 15k miles now, hence my statement.
