Amended Tax Return Question

I am sending in my amended 2022 tax return. Do you send just the tax forms (1040-x), or do you send the binding agreement/purchase agreement with the 1040-x?

I asked the same question. I was told just form 8936 but I assume it will be with 1040x. Nothing else.

Completed and submitted mine in TurboTax in five minutes. The binding agreement is not submitted but keep it in case you are ever audited. My tax credit plus interest was deposited to my checking account by the IRS in about eight weeks.

We did same and are at about 12 weeks and no refund showing in the account yet.... shows pending on IRS site.

To tag onto this question, is there an income limit to the 2022 amended returns? I know that starting in 2023 there is a limit, but my understanding is that there was no limit in 2022 (bought in 2023 but with the binding agreement). Is that correct?

I wanted to file the 1040x electronically, but I called the IRS just to make sure. And the lady on the phone said you could do that, but then they are going to come asking for the 8936, which you'd have to send by mail. With that info, I ended up just mailing the 1040x with the 8936 to make sure they had everything and that I'd get the credit. That was like 3 weeks ago. I can see the IRS has the amended return. So we'll see how long it takes them to send me a check (another thing that sucks about snail mail). I'd rather just get a direct deposit.

No income limit or max cap on the purchase price.
