If time is not of the essence, what is the best amperage setting for charging and saving battery life. As a percentage of charge I’m keeping it at 70% for the max
Thanks.

For someone new to EVs like myself, I understand to adjust the amperage when L2 or L1 charging to be a margin below the amperage of the outlet (like lowering amperage to 42A when charging off a 50A AC outlet).

Do I need to adjust the amperage at all when DC fast charging? I'm assuming the answer is no, and L3 charging rate is entirely handled by the external charger itself?

For Level 1/2 should set to 80% of rated amperage.
60 amp circuit, charge at 48
50 amp circuit, charge at 40
The charge is actually in the vehicle, so you control it

DCFC
You don’t control. Charger is the big box, it talks to car and figures it out.

That was my understanding about DC fast charging as well -- that the amperage setting in the vehicle only affected the onboard charger (AC charging). Thanks for confirming!

If the EVSE is not an absolute piece of garage and you as an owner we aren’t using a plug adapter to fit a 50 amp plug in a 30 amp receptacle - there is no need to adjust the amperage of the Rivian as the EVSE will only provide what is safe based on its correct installation.

Battery life is not affected by charging amperage. The only possible effect of charging at say 48 amps vs 24 or 32 amps is that a very tiny bit more electricity is lost to heat at higher amperages. Other than that don't worry about this at all. Charging at 48 amps will ensure you have as much charge as possible if you have to run out in an emergency.
