I made my first ever service request some weeks ago—to correct alignment of all doors. Appointment is set for mid next month (Lake Forest, CA). On a whim, I decided to check the mobile app on status of the service request and noticed they had split the request into three, but all on the same appointment. One of these three is the 12V replacement. I'm June '23 build. So, consistent with earlier reports of Rivian preemptively replacing 12V batteries put into mid-year builds of that year.

Question... If I need a rental or loaner, should I have mentioned that in my service request? do I need to tell them? or do they contact me ahead of the appointment?

I'm not sure on the loaner question in SoCal, but in Denver, I did not ask ahead of time, but they had a R1S Gen 1 loaner ready and waiting for me when my R1S was in for service for multiple days. It was pretty seamless.

depending on how busy your SC center is and the severity of your maint. stuff, most likely you will get a loaner. Majority of the time will be from Enterprise. I went to service center about 5x for two of my rivians. most are for minor fixes and still get rental cars. Their back logs is really bad.

I've only had 1 appointment (Denver) but they asked me if I needed a loaner or Lyft when they called to confirm the appointment.

You can send a message in the app to request a loaner. The SC will also call you a few days before to confirm the appointment you can mention it again at that time. Costa Mesa and Eastvale only had Enterprise rentals available For me.

If it's warranty work, they'll provide rental, loaner, or ride-share credits. If you "need" a loaner over a rental, you should plead your case as they're in limited supply. E.g., my single-day appointment became a 2 week repair on subframe crack, days before a camping/biking road trip, and my RTT is on crossbars. Rivian did right and hooked me up. Since then, I'm happy for anything but the Nissan Leaf I regrettably agreed to one time.

Thanks all. Yeah I’m not picky about loaner or rental. Just need something since I expect (from all takes) they will not work on my truck quickly… yes, anything but a Leaf.

Yeap. their back log sucks. Dallas center is roughly 1 week or more of sitting in the lot before brining in for service. When you get to Enterprise, request a big car since Rivian is paying for big size vehicle. I got tahoe, expedition, on several occasions.
