The biggest difference is that in the Rivian you need those four stops whereas in an ICE you may be able to do it in two stops....if your (and doggo's) bladder allows you to go that far between stops.

Our 6-8hr road trips usually include a longer first leg before sunrise to allow the kids to sleep and to knock out a big portion before we all start hydrating. This is probably the thing I'll miss the most with converting to EV. It'll be hard to hit 250 miles and have a charging station at the most convenient spot.

Was this the Sheraton in Redding? If so, how was it and how was the charging they had set up?

I've stayed at the Sheraton Sundial Bridge a couple of times. There are some DC chargers across the driveway at City Hall or the Convention Center but I've just used the L2 charger in the Sheraton parking lot. I don't recall if there's an app for them or if you just scan the QR to add payment and start charging. In any case I just let it sit there overnight and charged up, it's slow but worked fine.

The hotel is pretty nice as far as Sheratons go, seems like it's relatively new or at least recently remodeled. On-site food is decent for the price and a nice area to walk around after a day on the road.

Quad 20" is the worst config for efficiency. You're comparing a full size performance SUV with off-road tires to a station wagon with presumably road tires.

Absolutely! I swapped out my 20” Pirelli AT’s for the Nokian One HT and it made a world of difference not only in range but also in highway noise. I’m pretty close to the same range as the 21” OEM wheel/tire set.
