Anyone purchased the vehicle without test drive?

The first time driving an EV was the 3 hour trip from the service center to my house, in the rain, at night. It was not exactly a relaxing experience.
I pulled out of the SC, went less than one mile and immediately pulled into a gas station to collect myself.
However after 3 hours I was able to pull down our driveway into our garage with no issue.
After a few thousand miles the one pedal driving feels intuitive and easy. It is a little weird when I have to drive our ICE.

We took a ride down to Manhattan to see the R1T in person, see how I can get my wheelchair in and out of the truck and went for a ride around the city with the Rivian rep. But I couldn't drive it without hand controls. I would try to make arraignments to see it in person if possible. Its a lot of money and you'd want to be as sure as you can be.

I found a used one for sale at a dealership and drove it. I had already made up my mind and placed a deposit, but thought it would be prudent.

I did a test drive, but honestly it was just to put the last 1% on the existing "99% certain" I was going to get one. After watching their site for almost two years, literally putting away an extra $500/mo to simulate my increased payment (at the time, leasing was not an option in VA), the last bit was just to see it in person.

Glad I did, because when it was time, there was no hesitation. The only wait was that my decision to go forward happened to coincide w/ the run on pre-configured builds in my area. For weeks I constantly refreshed the Rivian Roamer site waiting for a Dual Large to appear...almost getting a flight to the mid-west to pick one up & drive back.

Also, my nearest center was ~ 60 miles away, but luckily I was able schedule the test drive on the day we were flying out of BWI, so I was heading that way anyway...

No test drive here. My first time ever driving any EV was on my 4.5 hour journey from Richmond, VA back to east TN with my new (demo) R1T. No regrets!

I rented one on Turo for a weekend before I decided. I drove my usual commute and tested charging. I highly recommend this method. It gives you more time than a basic test drive.

Rivian R1S - '24 - No test drive

My wife still drives ICE and we test drive all ICE vehicles. Some have too many gears which causes them to jerk and gear hunt frantically all the time. We try to avoid those.

Ordered the R1T Feb 2022
Got to see one in person Spring of '22
Took delivery Dec '22
Waiting on a R2 to replace the Tesla
If Rivian's producing and I have the funds there's no looking back

We drove down to Portland back. If you're interested in a Gen 2, you'll have issues test driving that anywhere outside of a Rovian sales location. Gen1s can be easily found everywhere around here at dealers and turo.

We weren't about to drop 113k on a vehicle without testing it first.

Hi folks, I'm new here and deciding to make R1S purchase but we live near Seattle and the closest shop for test drive is either Vancouver BC or Portland OR. So asking here to see if anyone purchased R1S without test driving it? I watched lots of youtube videos so I have an idea about how it would feel but driving is different thing. I purchased my current ford explorer st without test driving it because I knew I'd love it and I did. I'm having same feeling for R1S as well but R1S is much more expensive and electric. I have test driven F150 lightning if that helps. Thanks.

There is a dealer in kirkland who used to have used rivians (almost new). You can test drive there and also check if you want to buy almost new from there

Figured the 8 year warranty would cover me if I had any issues.

still loving my R1T just thinking of trading it in for a full size truck.
