I think I'm already one app update behind if the last one was supposed to include the ability to adjust the charging target by 1% increments like on the main screen. I had noticed in the Google Play store that there was a message that this app isn't compatible with your device anymore and ignored it. Now when I open the app, it just gives me a message screen that it's time for an update with a link to Update now, but that just takes me to the Google Play store where the same message about it being incompatible is displayed. And I can't navigate to anything in the app anymore. The message screen says I an still use it as a key, but can't get to any other app features. My phone is a Galaxy Note 8. I sent the message requesting help to the app developer contact, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and figured it out.

I have the same problem, couple updates back the incompatible message came up when I tried to update. I hoped I would be able to continue on with the app version on my phone, but today the app is demanding an update before it will open. I’m not pleased with this as I don’t want to be forced to buy a new phone in order to use the Rivian app with my truck.

The Rivian app requires Android 10. If you're really hellbent on not replacing the phone, you're going to have to learn how to flash custom roms. Lineage OS is supposedly supported on your phone, which will make you compatible again, but who knows for how long.

Other than being ticked off at having to replace a phone with absolutely no problems and more features than I'll ever use, my other concern is that my phone works nearly flawlessly with the wireless charger in the truck. Based on all of the constant griping about the wireless charger here, I'll probably end up with a phone that doesn't want to charge as easily if at all. Progress. Right.

Guess I'll end up having to research the forums as part of phone shopping to see which Android devices work well with the truck's wireless charger.

Yeah, that gear tunnel app release feels like they're trolling us. "Look what you can now do remotely...if they actually opened more than 1/4" and didn't relock after about 5 seconds" ?
The SC can adjust this so it pops out more. My local mobile technician's gear tunnel pops out 2-3 inches and therefore doesn't re-lock. My truck is currently at the SC and that adjustment is one of the items.

Just be careful watch you ask for. I had mine "adjusted" and the result was a tiny improvement in the door opening but a misalignment of both doors. Next time I went in for service I had it realigned. Maybe I'll try again next time.

BTW, I have had opportunity to play with several of the trucks now and none of them have opened more than about 1/2". I had just decided mine was as good as it was ever gonna be.

I am not aware of any phone currently on the market that only does wireless charging, you can still plug them all in to charge.

So, just got blindsided the day before I'm to pick up my R1S that I can't download the Rivian app since it's not supported on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which apparently is running Android 9. SMH It would have been nice to know the minimum Android version required in the actual Rivian app description (updated May 16, 2023!) on the Google Play store without having to search these forums, but thanks @Dark-Fx for sharing that information.

Also, would be nice to specify in the Rivian purchase steps that the Rivian app is *OPTIONAL* and not required to pick up the vehicle, since the steps make it seem like it's required. Only AFTER my wife ordered my new phone did my Guide inform me that I could still pick up the R1S tomorrow and that the Rivian app was optional. SMH

That's new to the process then. I had to have the app in order to accept delivery of the vehicle (granted, it was over a year ago now). Not to use or drive the vehicle, but to get the vehicle tied to my account.

The process definitely felt different when we picked up the R1S a year later. I don't recall having to accept the delivery through my phone but I might have just had my wife go through the process on my phone this time. It could be they had enough people that couldn't use the app or refused to that they changed things around.

Us Old Timers used to be bleeding edge. We needed an APP to take delivery of our vehicles. Not like you young kids with your fancy keys. What do you think this is? 1999? Back in my day we didn't need keys to get into a car, we just needed USB-A and Tik Tok.

@Steve A. Enjoy the new R1S AND the new phone!

I definitely intend to enjoy the R1S but I've spent the past year or so trying to de-Google/de-Apple my household due to major data privacy issues which were definitely amplified by the mandatory data consent clause in the Rivian purchase agreement where there was no opt-out but those threads been beat to death so no need to redebate them here.

Well apparently either my Guide is wrong or the Rivian Delivery Steps need to be changed.
