Apple music quality settings?

With the new software and Apple music... Are there any quality settings? Do you have to 'enable' the highest quality audio in the Rivian?

There is only one setting for Spatial Audio on/off when available. I'm not entirely too sure what the audio quality coming through is if not Dolby Atmos / Spatial Audio. There is nothing that says Lossless or Hi-Res Lossless like you might see in the Apple Music app on your phone, so its unclear. The other settings are primarily crossfade and favoriting primarily.

Well not sure if it is a ‘quality’ setting or general short coming of Rivian implementation of Apple Music… but there are entire ‘channels’ (?) missing. I’ve noticed some various seeming sound quality issues but this morning ran into the one described below:

I have a 2024 Gen 1 (Elevaion sound system) R1T… and incidentally have performed multiple infotainment reboots since the Apple Music update.

Issue example:
I would appreciate if someone could try playing the song ‘Greensleves’ by Loreena McKennitt and see if they experience the same thing I do. With balance set to dead center of the vehicle and with equalizer settings on ‘default’ (to take that out of the equation ), when played in the Rivian via Bluetooth from my iPhone 15, the song is exactly as expected. But when played from Apple Music, the ‘channel’ (?) with Loreena’s vocals is virtually gone. How many other songs are being affected where I am just not catching it? Reverting to Bluetooth for now. Could this just be a ‘mixing’ difference between the two ‘versions’ and I have a hardware (speaker) issue?

Appreciate any feedback.

If you have an iPhone, go to settings and find the Music app. You can change the download and streaming settings. Whether these carry over to Apple Music on the Rivian is a question mark.

Thanks. Yes I have everything at the highest setting. But like you said I have no idea what carries into Rivian or not. I suspect nothing since I’m not using the app on my phone but the Rivian itself.

i love lorena mckennit so i will give this one a try! but i have heard in other forums sometimes the decode is inconsistent and this might be one of those times.

This doesn't directly answer the question but seems like over bluetooth not lossless, otherwise lossless in Apple's implementation of AAC can be switched on and off all devices listed. I'd guess it's AAC Lossless coming into the Rivian just based on the Jane's Addiction, Royal Blood, James Taylor and Sbtrkt I've been listening to since the update.
