Automatically connect to hotspot?

I said "may" not "will," and cycling it off and on may make the connection actually less stable. Mine is always on, and the car connects seamlessly (along with other devices).
You do not need to do this, but for those of us who have other devices (laptops etc.) that also use personal hotspot from time to time, automatically cycling off when we leave the car is a nice feature. Whatever works best for you.

That's the reason I do NOT want it doing this. I regularly have other devices that expect the phone to be available.

It may be all moot for me, my CarPlay unit seems to steal the wifi connection. Not surprising, but I need to see if there's a fix.

Confirmed that CarPlay makes the hotspot function break. I understand why, but was hoping for some Apple magic here to let it work. There may be a way to do this by splitting up the bands, but now this has hit my threshold for willingness to spend time versus just paying or just not using the connected features at all.
