I'm about to take delivery of a new R1T after being away for a couple of years

Back in November of 2018 I placed a pre-order for a R1T and an R1S. I then proceeded to read anything and everything Rivian. I attended every Rivian drive event or meetup I could. Trying to learn as much about the product and company as possible.

In November of 2021 (3 years later), me and my COVID mask attended a first mile drive event where I got to drive a R1T. At that point I was sold. BUT... my order was for a Max Pack R1T. That config was unobtanium back then.

Fast forward to June 2022. I took delivery of a Limestone R1T large pack. I loved everything about the truck. It was my first EV. There were some teething issues with a new product and company. I had a number of issues in the first few months (failed battery pack, failed front drive unit, etc) but Rivian Service was awesome at fixing everything. They got my truck sorted and once they did it was a solid vehicle for over a year.

Fast forward 14 months and my wife's R1S order was ready for purchase. I traded the R1T for the R1S. My hope was my wife would take the R1S and give up her 200 Series Land Cruiser. In the end, wifey kept her LC and the R1S was sold in late 2023.

Since then. I have watched Rivian from a distance. Admiring the progress and missing the R1T. I wasn't a fan of the R1S, but I loved the R1T. Over the last almost 3 years since I exited the Rivian ecosystem I have had a handful of cars. None of them has lasted more than 6 months. I have missed my original R1T. Had I not traded it in I'm confident that I would still have it today.

That brings us to today. I have an appointment to pickup a Quad R1T and I'm just as excited as I was getting my original Rivian and rejoin the ecosystem.

I know you all won't be happy without pics... this is the best I have for now.

Thank you...! I did get to see the truck at the Service Center and it looks amazing. I was so busy inspecting it and checking out the changes that I completely forgot to take a few snaps. I'll share a few when it comes home next weekend.

Congrats and welcome back to the Rivian family.

I take it it will be a Gen2?.

We have had oour Blue R1T Gen1 since May of 2023 and other than it being in the service center after about 2 months for a "battery charging issue" and a windshield replacement, it has been amazing. We did have the 12v battery issue at about 10 months, but Kevin the mobile guy came to our house, replaced it, filled all the fluids did a inspection of the whole system and went on his merry way. I am about 55k miles on it and is so nice. Our oither vehicle is a 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime (plug-in hybrid). My wife mainly drives that because all she does it usually go into town and it gets 45 miles on a charge......we haven't put gas in it in about a month and I drive the R1T to work and get to charge for free (its a perk). THe last time I used a public charger was almost 3 years ago.

Thank you! Yes, Gen2, Quad, Max Pack. I have access to free charging at the office as well. Eventually, I will get a EVSE for the house. When I had my last R1T I always charged at the office. Between free charging at work and free RAN charging back then, I rarely paid for charging.

I picked up the R1T. Drove home with a BIG grin on my face. The difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 is noticeable to me. Much more refined ride. Panel gaps are solid on this one. Controls and software felt familiar. We are breaking her in with a trip to the wine country this weekend. I didn't realize how much I missed my Gen 1 R1T until now. I'm dropping her off for window tint and ceramic next week. Stoked to be back in a Rivian....!

Are you going with PPF too or full ceramic?
I am doing full ceramic. No exterior PPF. I'm having ceramic tint applied to all windows except the windshield to cut down on the summer heat in the cab.

We sold our 2022 R1T in 2023. I’ve kept watching them since, and even tried to get my wife into an R1S a few times, but stuck with our Bronco Raptor and Ioniq 5N. Now I’m wondering if I’ll do tri R1T or R2 whenever they open up the builds next month. I am definitely leaning R1T. Have had a LOT of vehicles over the years and missed very few, R1T is at the top of that list.

To celebrate getting that winning feeling back, I’m already hitting the games on https://mostbet.net.in/ while waiting to sign the paperwork.
Congrats and welcome back! Having gone through early production battery and drive unit failures with your first truck, what clicked for you during your time away that made you realize the R1T was worth coming back to despite those initial prolems?

Im dealing with a bit of a dilemma rn. I currently drive an R1S, but I've been seriously wrestling with the idea of trading it in for an R1T because I miss the truck utility.
