I read that NEMA defined a new bi-directional charging standard. Does this mean that Vehicle to Home (VTH) charging will finally be coming? I have been waiting for years for this, and I don't think people realize how much of a game changer this would be if a semi affordable solution can be found. I received a quote for 2 Tesla Powerwalls, which were over $20k. Having the equivalent of 10 Powerwalls with my R1T would be a game changer. Does anyone know what is going on? Looks like there are no excuses now.

That standard was a year ago. There can still be plenty of excuses. Just because there is a standard does not mean manufacturers must provide the feature or implement it per the standard.

My opinion is that the "That's cool, I want it" demand is more than the "Here's my money" demand, and to date there have not been enough buyers of any V2H tech to incent Rivian and others to make it a true priority. Ford and GM have offered it for a while. Ford discontinues the Lightning. Read the tea leaves.

I don't know if I am an edge use case here in Hawaii where power is really unstable when we have even mildly bad weather. I would think Rivian would be able to work with a 3rd party if they don't want to develop it in house. And there are tons of home battery backup systems out there so I would think there must be some demand in the market.
