Rivian will make good on all binding agreements by 31 Dec 2023 for the $7,500 tax credit?

How would any of us know? Rivian themselves likely don't even know

There is no 31 dec 2023 deadline.

May I suggest this thread be removed. There is no deadline in the new law. The IRS, not Rivian, determines if the binding purchase agreements will suffice to apply the old EV tax credit law to Rivian vehicles “placed in service” in the future. There is nothing here for Rivian to “make good.”

I've been wondering about the timing as well...
The way this is written, it's saying it's as if we purchased our vehicles a few days ago. But, we won't actually have purchased our vehicles until ?2024?. Will I need to go back and re-file my taxes for this year (and possibly following years)?\

This seems like a silly add-on question, but if it's placed in service now, does that effect my State taxes and yearly fees? My assumption is that it's only being treated as having been in service as of now for the purposes of applying to that portion of the tax laws. Which again, leads me to wonder if I'll need to update my 222 taxes.

But someone will figure this out next year long before I can take delivery.

Is the question about Rivian giving you a discount or the IRS giving you a tax credit?
Doesn’t make sense to me and seems to just be here to stir the pot on a topic that’s been hashed and rehashed.

apologies, i thought to understand that any agreement entered into prior to the aug 16 signing of the bill required the delivery of such vehicle before dec 31 of 23.

if it’s not the case take this thread down ?
