Proud Irvine resident and now owner of a new (to me) 2023 Performance Dual Max R1S!

My wife and I have an R2 reservation but had been keeping an eye out for deals on an R1 and decided we found one too good to pass up this Friday while visiting family in Nor Cal.

Dual Motor Max Battery
Performance Upgrade
21” aero wheels
Forest Green w Forest Edge interior
Roof rails
20,500 miles

Many thanks to forum members for helpful insight at various points along the way that helped make this a more comfortable process as this is our first ever EV. Logged nearly 550 miles driving it back home and it has run like a dream so far.

We paid $59,000 plus CA state tax, title, license. How’d we do?!?

Now if only I can find where the initial owner left that pesky roof rail key 🔍🤔

that looks like a good deal! I would have jumped on that as well--congrats! based on the picture, I'm assuming this was purchased pre-owned directly from Rivian?

No it was traded in at a Volvo dealer in Northern CA. The cheapest performance dual max I’d seen from Rivian-direct used inventory was much higher with nearly 2x the miles, though was a ‘24 not ‘23. We live a few streets away from Rivian’s HQ in Irvine so pulled in for a quick photo op when we passed by!

initial impressions (this is the most expensive car we’ve ever owned so take with a pound of salt):
• Rivian audio seems perfectly fine. Read many posts saying it was a massive downgrade from Meridian sound and that may still be true but the music quality has exceeded expectations (we use native Spotify).

• Compared to the other cars we drive, this thing is insanely quiet (ford bronco is rather loud at highway speeds)

• Lack of CarPlay is a nonissue. I may be too obsessed with the drivetrain infographics and am officially a mi/kw junkie (averaging 2.85 thru first 600 miles - mostly highway 65-70 speeds, and can get 3.5 on my first few commutes to/from work ~15mi city street driving).
• Regen low, ride feel soft, height standard (auto disabled), and stability disabled. I should read more into what those do.

• Open footwell is an underrated feature. Makes the interior feel even more spacious and much prefer being able to put a work briefcase or backpack there opposed to having to reach over a center console and awkwardly lift it off the passenger seat like I’d been doing for years.

Already picked out a phone mount (every amp), camp speaker drawer, info screen matte covers, and twraps pano roof uv protectors based on some helpful forum comments!
