Adding to my growing list of disappointments, one of the things I hoped from my Rivian was not needing to roll through brake pads as often. I touch the brakes lightly maybe once per day and they service center just called that, while they've got my truck ripped apart trying to figured why it clicks while steering, that I have like 1/8" pad material remaining on all 4 sets.

I use standard Regen and brake assist, fwiw. My ICE pickup still had original pads at 70k when I sold it. I don't think I've ever replaced pads this soon and never had a vehicle with regen braking...

Mine still has 9mm pads all around after 45k, so your wear sounds like something with your truck or how it's used. If you deal with road salt in your region are you doing the recommended 12k caliper cleaning?

Do you live in an area where blended braking is actually being used?
Unlikely. I'm rarely charged over 70% so plenty of battery space for Regen charging and my mom and max elevation are like 600-900' so not much holly terrain to need the extra brake force?

Never heard of this. Enlighten me

Disable blended braking. Who needs it? To me, it always seemed like a good way to burn up brake pads. It may be activating more than you realize. I drive in the mountains a lot. Shortly after blended braking arrived in an update, I disabled it. My brake lights were constantly going on and off (brakes being applied). If I had been driving behind myself, it would have driven me frickin’ crazy.

Check the maintenance schedule in your app. Home >> Vehicle maintenance >> See maintenance schedule.

The caliper cleaning is something they added last year, apparently because of premature wear due to road salt. There's also been some people who see uneven pad wear because of sticking calipers.

💯

Known issue, especially with early editions (I see you have 2022 LE).

They weren't greasing pins or calipers at the factory, so a lot of folks had very uneven brake pad wear. Mine looked like a doorstop by the time I had them replaced (pic is floating around somewhere).

If living in the mountains do not use blended braking. It cooks the pads and rotors. Also, do not use TACC on long downhills as it will be do the same.

Agree..I disabled it too. More importantly, I want to know if friction brakes are being used, especially in mountains. I can slow down or stop for a bit to let the brakes cool down, like I do with our ICE SUV. My manual TL has original brakes at 110k.

80K on my R1T. Brakes look brand new. I use high regen. 99.99% of the time I dont touch my brakes. Only when faster stop is needed. ie dumbass driver avoidance.

Holy freaking hell! $630 for just brake pad replacement is the work estimate! Someone please tell me this is DIY like a normal car or that another shop can do it??? I've done pads on all my cars before...

Yes, the pads are just like any other car, and someone had posted pad sources here in the past.

Turn off blended braking. And is your regen set to high?

Well, that's one thing to fix if you want longer brake life.
