Burning smell from AC

Wondering if anyone else has gotten this. Not a new vehicle (~10k miles). Got in this morning and the HVAC had a like burnt smell to it. Haven’t driven in a couple of days. Sitting outside in the sun. No smell outside the vehicle. It only seems to be when the AC is on. No smell with just the blower or when heat is on.

Anyone else gotten this?

already called service. Trying to get it in soon but I have 2 camping trips coming up in the next few weeks and need the truck.

Burning smells are rarely good- especially from a vehicle.
Hope the SC can get you in right away.

Have you checked the frunk to make sure someone didn't sneak in there and hot box you?

Yep, it comes with the AC compressor running at full tilt. Others in my vehicle have commented about it as well. Started with 2023.22.0 release.

I’m overriding it by keeping HVAC in recycle until they push a fix. SC won’t see me about this until October. Mobile tech ack’ed this is not a one-off problem and is being broadly evaluated for a solution for all affected customers.

Thats good to know its not just mine. Makes sense since its been hotter than usual (summer...) and last time I drove it I left it full blast and it turned on full blast this morning. Guess Ill just keep monitoring it and run it only full sparingly.

I have about 5k miles and am noticing the burning smell more and more. My sister popped in my car and asked if I was smoking cigarettes! Never had this issue before on a vehicle. Did you find a fix?

Once car is running for a while smell goes away. It’s worse when sitting for a day or two.

Once car is running for a while smell goes away. It’s worse when sitting for a day or two.

Never really came back after that one time other than once or twice I got a very faint smell. Nothing like the first time. Had it in for service a few weeks ago and all they could do was make sure it was working correctly.

I got that New Toaster Smell a month ago when I started using the heat again. Par for the course.
