One of the biggest things I miss from Tesla is the giant HEPA filter. You could never smell anything from outside in the cabin. Rivian's tiny filter is disappointing.
I second this. My #1 comparison disappointment. Almost an requirement . Part of the reason I live up on the hills or near the beach is for clean air. Please cater to your audience Rivian

My Audi takes it a step further with an ozone air cleaning system.

I ordered one. That's not how it looks. It's got the little black charcoal pellets all in it. Will try to post a pic at some point whenever I get around to changing it. ?
The ones I got were identical the photo, the back side however does have a honeycomb pattern filled with charcoal pellets. It gave off a slight chemical smell for the first day or so, but quickly went away. So far, works fine but does slightly reduce airflow as RivianTrackr pointed out in his video.

PRO TIP

Don't be dumb like MountainBikeDud (I don't deserve the "e" at the end of "dude") Turn off your climate system prior to embarking down the air filter replacement path. I wasn't really thinking about it, as my climate is typically on level 1 fan speed at 22 degrees c when the truck is on. Well, if you've got a door open while you're doing this stuff, climate will run and suck any debris, in this case a crunchy leaf, past the air filter during replacement and into the ever eager fan. the next two days of driving were filled with..

tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick....... Nothing screams you suck like.... tick tick tick tick tick tick tick.....

Anyway, coolest part is you can't get access to the fan unless you're either willing to rip apart your entire dash, or you're willing to go from the frunk and try to remedy it while the fan is in motion. IF you turn the fan off, there's a revolving door style enclosure between the fan and the filter, that automatically shuts when the system is turned off, to prevent this very thing from happening. I considered wedging it open, but decided against a likely expensive repair bill should I screw it up, in favor of some potentially busted up knuckles. In the end I was able to wrestle a brush in there and dislodge the offending debris.

I feel like I grew up at Possum Lodge watching Red and Harold. Great show.

Solid tip. Personally I'd probably jam my leaf blower in the opening and try to force through whatever was caught in the fan.

Oh - you're right about that filter. Realized when I took it out of the box (LOL):

Edit: or do I have "front" and "back" backwards? Suppose I'll figure it out when I go to put it in there. ?

I was apartment limited in my options. At my house I have a bunch of air tools etc

Apartment = Dyson Vacuum, Rivian onboard compressor, stiff scotch.

Edit* Vacuum is a weird looking word especially when spelled wrong

Blue side faces the front bumper, also the foam gasket around the edge gives it a nice fit.
