I have been driving here in Denver with display showing -11, left in auto and temp set to 72. Fan ran on 3, occasionally 4 for brief periods. Have had no heat issues even when we hit -19 at the house. My battery drains like a Hellcats gas tank, but warm air is no issue

I am guessing you did not precondition the battery and cabin (while being plugged in) prior to departure?
For this short trip, ur right. No precondition but for first trip (at 4 am) I have plugged all night long just to play safe considering the weather (-11 F)

It seems the early part of any trip in cold weather, the truck uses alot of energy, to warm up that large mass of batteries. So during that period of time, the miles/kwh is super low. But once the battery pack is warmed up, things get better. I have been forcing a charge session to go, about 30 minutes prior to leaving, which seems to warm pack as well as start cabin heating, about 15 minutes prior. Can't do this after a day on slopes, at office, etc... however.

I will keep it plugged overnight considering the harsh weather conditions. My garage being too small for R1T “personality” I have no other option.

What I do is charge to 70% normally, then about 30 minutes before leaving, bump it up to 85%. It seems that has the added effect of raising pack temps prior to leaving. Otherwise just being plugged in, it will likely just sit without pulling any current and subsequent heating.
