Cabin Preconditioning Time

I have a 2024 R1T. I set the Cabin Preconditioning to cool my truck by 4PM on weekdays. However, it starts cooling at about 3:25PM every day. Usually within 15 minutes it's pretty close to my desired temperature (68F). Any idea why it starts so early? My easy fix is delaying the time, but it just seems odd. My Tesla starts cooling about 15 minutes prior and is timed perfectly (it's also location based, so it only does it if I'm at my office - come on Rivian!)

Surface temperatures take longer to change. Measure what temp the rear seats are at, especially if they happened to be in direct sunlight.

I'd agree it seems to be too early on average, and that it would be really nice to be able to assign locations to the events.

That's a good point, maybe it's programmed to get the entire truck down to that temperature. I will admit, with the Tesla, you can tell the air is cooler, but the actual interior of the car is still pretty warm.

I'd also like to be able to precondition my loaner remotely somehow. Would be awesome if the loaner Rivian's controls would show up in my account/app.

that's too early. Adjust time to 4:20 and it should behave the way you prefer.

Rivian really should just give app access to loaners like Tesla does vs giving out key cards.

I am mystified and find it so interesting that some people have such a predictable schedule that a time-based rule like this is useful. I just use a Watch shortcut to cool a few minutes before leaving. It seems strange that the truck cools for so long, but then as others said, it's probably optimizing the comfort. It costs so little to do it.

It's doing more than cabin I thought....Battery to temp as well?

I leave it hot on my way to hot yoga. It pre-conditions me.

Getting the cabin to the right temperature early allows you to leave earlier. Ideally, I would like to have it get to temperature 10-15 minutes before target time and stay 10-15 minutes after target time.
