I must be in the minority based on comments here but I don’t think this is an appealing design at all - especially the rear.

How many different angles and creases can we fit in aft of the rear doors? Those angled LED lights from the chrome roofline trim to the rear hatch opening are hideous and must’ve been meant to complement the lower reverse curved garish chrome-trimmed vertical rear lights. If this was one of the choices in Hertz’s “pick your own rental” row I’d choose anything else.

Surprised it doesn’t have colored underbody lighting too.

Ah, now I feel better.

I'm no fan of the design either, inside or out. if it was in a rental lineup I'd take it just to experience how it works, but I'd never buy one. Well, check that, I'd buy one before going back to ICE if it was the only EV left on the planet.

... and this egg is one of the most popular EV's.
I actually think quirky styling is part (albeit a small part) of the aversion to more broad acceptance of EV's. It's a shame because it could and should be one of their positive attributes.

I don't think you are in the minority at all. I agree the styling language is not appealing in its material mix of chrome & black and the inexplicably aggressive angles. But for some reason in person I found it more appealing than in photos. That isn't to say that I think it's the best looking EV by any stretch - I much prefer the Volvo/Polestar etc design language for what's currently available in mid size SUV/Sedans. And of course, I love my Rivian.

I think your rental car example is a good one because I would have probably been of like mind until I rode in it. Now I can see some of it's strong suits. The ride quality and interior quality are very good and that would be appealing in a rental car or - as in the case I found myself - an hour long ride in traffic from the airport.

Aero is everything with EVs. That's why the Mercedes EV eggs like the EQE look so bland on the outside. But the interior is a nice place to spend time.

I'd suggest that if you're driving it, you only have to look at the interior.

I‘m with you. This EV is elegant and tasteful from every angle.

Yes. Every one of their cars and concepts has hit the mark. I'm hoping to get this polestar 3 for my wife.

I test drove a BMW iX M60 a couple days ago. By the looks of it the BMW would be my choice. Granted the one I drove is almost twice the price of this Lyric but at least if I go with the BMW I can finally get the electrochromic roof I wanted with the Rivian.

I like the look of the Lyric, but I agree the Polestar is better. It has a design that will probably look good 10 years from now. That would be my choice if I were shopping for a smaller SUV EV.

I am happy that I’m not alone in thinking this car is hideous, lol.

Unfortunately it's more expensive than the Rivian so we're probably going to be looking for something in a lower price range depending on when we buy. Or maybe just get the polestar 2 sedan which is simple and nice.
