One of the best looking and luxury EV. I also have order for Lyriq. Now It was converted to 2024 AWD model and expected delivery will be summer.

Yeah it was really impressive in person and felt like a luxury EV. The highlight to me was the ride quality. It soaked up the bumps smoothly and silently like a Lexus (or a Cadillac, but I haven't been in a modern Cadillac in years). Hope you don't have to wait too long.

I hope I will ride before buying it, otherwise this is also like rivian without test drive.
No regrets for rivian.

Should be able to drive it since you’ll have to go through a dealer to get it.

Has Lg figured out what was causing their prismatic battery packs to hit thermal runway on the Bolts? Genuinely curious.

Do you know the Bolt and Lyriq use different battery packs? Have you tried Google to find your answer? Genuinely curious.

They’re based on the ultium platform. No info on Google search if LG figured out the root cause of thermal runway. That’s why I’m asking

I hope Cadillac are successful with the Lyric. It looks fairly sharp to me. I think the R1’s are better value, at least at original pricing. It’s a shame they had the battery pack set back with the Bolt. GM is very cautious, so I’m sure they sincerely believe the issues to be fixed. I certainly hope so as the Bolt should do a lot for widespread adoption of EV’s given the value it offers.

Bolt is not ultium. The Bolt fires were caused by a single cell having two separate defects. Either single defect wouldn't have caused a thermal runaway. IIRC the combined defect was caused by a machine that either wasn't calibrated properly or wasn't keeping tolerances properly. The same equipment is not used to assemble ultium cells so we shouldn't see that same problem in any of the ultium vehicles.

Yeah but it is GM.

I'm not so worried about GM EV fires as I am Tesla.

I agree. The chances of getting caught in a fire from a manufacturer that had made comparatively very few EV’s are less than Tesla.

My point was more about that, in GM’s life as a company, they have never struggled to rise to the occasion of spectacular failure. But will they survive? Sure, because they are “too big to fail”.

Don’t mind me, I’m just not much of a GM fan.

I must be in the minority based on comments here but I don’t think this is an appealing design at all - especially the rear.

How many different angles and creases can we fit in aft of the rear doors? Those angled LED lights from the chrome roofline trim to the rear hatch opening are hideous and must’ve been meant to complement the lower reverse curved garish chrome-trimmed vertical rear lights. If this was one of the choices in Hertz’s “pick your own rental” row I’d choose anything else.

Surprised it doesn’t have colored underbody lighting too.

Ah, now I feel better.
