We narrowed it down to the Lyriq and XC40 Recharge to replace my wife's old Prius that is dead in our driveway. The XC40 is really fun to drive, very snappy and responsive. Interior was fine. Nice, but dated, especially the screen. And it's a little tight.

We managed to buy a Lyriq yesterday from a dealer with a small markup over MSPR (was supposed to be a big markup but they had us drive 2 hours with a baby and toddler and THEN sprung a markup on us at the last minute, I blew a gasket and they called us back later to apologize and reduce it). Only a few hundred miles in but so far very happy with it. The interior is wonderful, tons of space and everything feels very premium. The aluminum touches are great. The info system has been great so far and the huge screen is nice. Drives like a new Cadillac. The RWD is more power than my wife will use, though it is absolutely tuned for comfort. Smooth starts, smooth stops, very quiet. Super Cruise isn't activated yet. I'm told a few more months, so that will be interesting to play with.

May still wait for my R1S some time before the heat death of the sun. We do want to have a 3 row for road trips. Part of being willing to get the RWD Lyriq now was the assumption that we'll add the "fun" car later, but if I'm offered an EX90 before Rivian CS manages to say even a single useful sentence to me....
