Cameras picture quality

Is it normal to have a crappy picture quality from the cameras?
Seems very low resolution / blurred.

Yes, unfortunately. They're commodity parts and the issue is compounded by the fact that what you see on screen in most cases is actually a cropped view of a wider angle lens (sort of like digital zoom).

I'd love to see Rivian upgrade this in a refresh, even better if they added a spray washer to the front and rear cameras. (I'd also pay handsomely for a retrofit, but I'd file that under "not likely.")

Yeah, the rear camera gets blurred far too easily even in just rain. Some method to clear it from inside would be greatly appreciated.

R1S has a washer for the rear camera at least.

It’s always leaking from there, leaves a funky residue. It’s been mentioned here, in the past posts.

Just an FYI the downloaded footage onto a USB stick is of much higher quality then a live feed you see on the screens. I think has something to do with the with how Rivian digital to limit the bandwidth of live stream possibly digital to analog download for speed? ??‍

The camera quality when off-roading definitely leaves something to be desired, like actually being able to see.
