Camp Kitchen - cooktop discontinued?

I did a search for a thread on the T's Camp Kitchen and couldn't find one so here goes (Admins if this belongs somewhere else please move):

Lots of questions about the availability of the Camp Kitchen. My Guide said indefinite delay (on 4/19/22). She will put my name on the list for future and honor LE price. Then I was going through some research and discovered Dometic has discontinued what I thought was the kitchen's cooktop, link below showing website for cooktop:

I'm sure they are trying to find a suitable replacement. The troubling part is that Dometic does not make one, seems like all gas now, and I'm not sure anyone does (someone has to but in today's manufacturing and chip environment, not sure of availability in short term).

One of the reasons we shifted from an S to a T was the camp kitchen - Dang!

What say the group - is this the end of the camp kitchen for a while?

It's been listed as discontinued for quite a while. Rivian hasn't offered an explanation for why they aren't shipping kitchens as far as I'm aware.

If it’s discontinued, why can you still order it on the site? Is it to get people to order the truck? The first time I heard of Rivian was via a YouTube about the camp kitchen, which eventually led to an preorder…. Though that would be kind of shady if they were doing that

I emailed Rivian back in June 2021 with the question about Dometic discontinuing this cooktop. As usual, I did not receive a direct answer. Instead, this is the response I received:

Thanks for reaching out! It's nice to hear from you, and we appreciate your question. I'm happy to share Rivian Adventure Gear purchased with your Rivian vehicle is covered by the same warranty duration as the Comprehensive Warranty (5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first). This does include the camp kitchen and in an event where it may need service, we’re here to help with any of your vehicle repair needs.

A great question nonetheless! If anything else comes to mind, don't hesitate to reach back out. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and stay well.

I think you're mixing items:
Camp Kitchen - you can add to a build, but it will be removed from your PBA and you will be added to the "list" (too funny, added to a list) to receive it sometime later date tbd.
Dometic Cooktop on manufacturer's website - discontinued.

One explanation may be that Dometic is only building that cooktop for Rivian now. And so, sale to public is discontinued due to # of orders received from Rivian?

Until we get an answer from the manufacturer, we'll be left to guess yet again about something.

Just because one suppliers cooktop is discontinued, doesn't mean the entirety of the camp kitchen is as well. It would just require a different cooktop to be used. It may result in a slight design modification for that portions integration, but nothing major.

Supply chain constraints are still a pain. Tried ordering a pair of hiking boots this weekend for my mother in law, and most were out of stock except for the outlier shoe sizes. So, it's affecting everything.

This is the current shipping nightmare outside Shanghai due to their recent covid lockdown for reference

I'm not defending this particular cooktop; it's just the first one that came up on an Amazon search, but:

The cooktop wattage is configurable from 200W-1800W depending on your needs. It seems that most of these induction hot plates work the same way.

Not sure if there is any parallels but I'm doing a remodel at my home and a whole new kitchen appliance package: all items including refrigeration/freezers/dishwasher/wall oven/microwave have about 6 week lead time. The range with gas AND induction cooktop they have no estimate and perhaps even 1 year before we will get it. It may be related to the ban on gas cooktops in many US cities for new construction (New York City for example). Don't know about the EU but this also sounds like something they would do. Could be they just can't make them fast enough to keep up with new demand given gas is not an option for lots of new construction.

The Camp kitchen is not dedicated and can be removed. Watch this Rivian video and see how easy it is to remove.

the cooktop they were using, the dometic CI-20, has been replaced with a new model, the CI-21 which is fhe same specs/dimensions outwardly
