As of now, I do not intend to use the camp speaker, instead wanting additional storage space. I have purchased after market camp speaker drawer until/if ever Rivian comes out with their lockable version. My question is: I believe the camp speaker battery is lithium. Will the camp speaker battery remain operable if I never charge it periodically or will it die and not be operable in future. I have read where you never want lithium batteries to go dead.
Anyone out there have the knowledge to know answer unequivocally?

I think you would need to keep the camp speaker plugged in, or charge it once in a while, since the speaker has a habit of waking itself up it will discharge the battery completely if you just leave it on a shelf.

Yeah, considering the size of the thing, it discharges 100% rather fast once unplugged.

it auto shuts off when not in use. but yeah, i would not let it discharge completely and stay at 0% battery as that will degrade the health. maybe just keep it plugged in via USB?

My camp speaker lives in the doc 100% of the time, yet every time I have tried to use it the battery was dead. I manually charge it, and then the next time I go to use it the battery is dead again.

So if I were you I wouldn't worry about it.

Hanging out in the doc doesn't seem to maintain the battery any better than leaving it sitting on a shelf in your garage.

I’d encourage you to submit a service ticket for this so we can get some traction on a fix or replacement.

I had the same experience with mine - but only once - so I’m starting to experiment with mine and if it consistently behaves this way I’m going to enter a service ticket.

I had no idea that when the speaker was in the doc it did not charge. I have never tried taken it out to use it. That sounds like a good question for SC. If you pursue answer and get one, please post on this thread for me to read. Thanks.

You can use a USB cable and plug it in using your outlet at home or the plugs on the R1's/

Thanks- yes I did notice the USB C port- still curious if it needs to be re-charged occasionally.

I haven't had issues the few times I have used it. The first time I used it, it was fully charged and I haven't plugged it in with the USB port, so I guess it charges.

Mine definitely charges in the dock. I have charged both using the dock and using a USB cable.
