I have driven Wranglers since I was 12 (driving only in private areas) and have owned Jeeps all my life. I love the Jeep Wave, the camaraderie among Jeep owners.

Now that I'm driving my R1T daily, I feel a similar kinship with Rivian owners (whom I am seeing more and more!). I glimpse another Rivian and immediately I want to wave. But, that's a Jeep thing. And, the R1T windows roll down too slowly to stick my hand out in time for most passings. ;)

So, I'm initiating a "Rivian Blink". The headlights are one of the most distinctive features on the Rivian. What better way to acknowledge another Rivian driver than a quick headlight flash or two coupled with a grin as you pass?

Follow along with me or not. I'm not trying to start a movement (but wouldn't be sad if it caught out). This post is just to say: if you see my truck blink at yours as you go by, that's just me saying "Hi, friend!"

Most Rivian owners use the tocking, clunking, or squeaking noises to signify their presence.

Verbally complaining about lack of CarPlay is also an acceptable greeting.

People in WRXs also wave to each other. I find myself waving at them when I’m not in mine. After owning one for 20 Ish years it’s a hard habit to break.

If you’re driving behind an R1, just consider the brake check lights from the phantom braking (followed by a touch of the 4-ways) as a “wink”.

That’s definitely “A Rivian Thing”.

I was thinking this too. A blink and the light bar maybe could light up beginning from the center to the outside....maybe it would look like a big smile!!! What a great way to brighten someone's day

The Jeep Wave is one of the most annoying things about owning a Wrangler. Especially with how common they are. Almost makes me jealous of a newer Bronco owner.

OP, I was thinking the same thing yesterday when I saw a blue R1T parked at the deception pass park area. Car culture and waving is a big deal in my family.

My wife reminds me wave when I drive her Wrangler, she's on her 4th one now. I have an ND (4th gen Mazda Miata) which also has a culture of waving to other owners. My son does a quick pop-up headlight thing when he sees another Miatas (he has a first gen).

I think if we're going to be waving to each other, I'd like it to be some sort of unique headlight wink kind of thing.
