Hello folks, looking forward to your inputs. I have a very good offer on R1S Launch Edition which has less than 500 miles on it. Is it worth buying or look for a 2023 model ? Or there any major issues surfaced ? Appreciate your help thanks.

That depends on what a 'very good offer' is?

I wouldn't be too concerned about an early VIN R1S as they had a lot of experience building R1Ts at that time already if that is your concern.

That seems like a fair price (Assuming it wasn't badly damaged in an accident or something we don't know about). Seller probably paid ~$80k and got the tax credit, so you get a truck for less than current MSRP and seller doesn't lose anything.

Frankly there are 200 miles on it, thatā€™s what excited me.

I took delivery of a Launch Edition R1S in Nov. 2022 and it's been great. Have nearly 30,000 miles on it. Three issues that were fixed early on at the service center, none of which I consider major:
  • Replacement of front driver and passenger side rubber window trim (because one of the windows wasn't closing all the way)
  • Replacement of second row of seats due to squeaking sounds during acceleration
  • Fixed noisy flap under hood that opens when vehicle is conditioning
It's a steal at 75k and 500 miles.

Yes. Lots of "major issues" have surfaced on various vehicles; especially the earlier units.

So it is on you to look for them. Make sure it drives well. Make sure is does not have the reported pull/shake at freeway speeds. Make sure all the doors open and close properly. Listen for half-shaft fitment (clicking, "tocking"). Look for signs of water ingress in the wells.

Due diligence.

As an owner of 8/2022 build R1S I can say itā€™s been solid. Plus you get the original spec: under dash power, frunk power, rear headrest hook surround in wood, Meridian sound system.
I have an R1S built in 10/22, picked it up in January 23, have almost 14k on it and it has been a solid vehicle.

Edit: My vin is 1663.

18XX R1S VIN here. I've had one significant issue, but it wasn't a "stranded on the side of the road" issue. Rivian has been solid in addressing any and all issues. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again... as I wait for R3X preorders to open

Make sure all the recalls have been addressed... Otherwise You are paying as much as I paid for my 2024 R1S Launch Edition. Personally, the only real issue is that you now have 2 years less warranty. But if you are a driver, that wont matter to you as you will rack the miles up.

What wheels are on it? Do the wheels on it match the picture on the center stack screen picture?

75k seems like a great deal, no issues that can't be resolved.
