Is this retrofit possible? We're actually looking at the absurd scalpers online and considering taking the price gouging after renting one of these trucks for a week on Turo. These trucks completely blindsided us and blew us away.
It's not a retrofit. It's a standard non-included accessory that Rivian can install at any time.
FYI - there are no camp kitchens available currently, and the first batch of production will definitely be going to LE holders that ordered one but haven't received theirs yet (I'm not expecting to get mine with the truck since they've yet to deliver a single one thus far).
Yep, Rivian techs will just install the gear shuttle accessory and then the camp kitchen components mount on that. No changes to the basic vehicle are required. And the camp kitchen components can be removed and stored away when you're not using them, making the gear tunnel available for other stuff. But, as Inkedsphynx said, ongoing supply chain issues (or manufacturing capacity issues; who knows?) mean that no one is getting the camp kitchen right now, anyway. You can order one and they'll get it to you as soon as they can.
And the R1T really is badass. I can't imagine going back to a "regular" truck. I shudder to think what you'll have to pay to get one after market ($150K!?); but you'll definitely enjoy it, once you get over the pain of writing that check.
