How do I get the head rest up in the back so I can attach the top strap of a child car seat to the attachment spot behind the head rest?

There's a little release you have to pinch in on each support (every other car I've had only had that on one side, that's where I got stuck), and I think they're slightly different from each other.

Thank you!! I felt one such release, on the left-side in-side support. I can't feel any others. I pushed it in with all my strength, and it moved a little, but the headrest did not release. Does anyone have a picture of a lifted headrest? Thanks again!

It’s extremely difficult to remove and even more so to replace, but it’s doable. You just have to be persistent.

If you have access to 3D printing you can print one of these little tools I designed. If not, you can buy one on my webshop. MUCH easier than struggling. A bunch of forum members have downloaded and printed one. And a bunch have bought one. Everybody seems to love it.

It does move. You can get the tool or struggle with it for 5 min while sweating and swearing. I chose the second option

I ordered your tool. If it works (I am sure it does) you are a genius! It should not be an impossible task to safely buckle in a child's seat. Thumbs down to Rivian on this one.

Just shipped the tool. I'm pretty sure you'll shake your head and grin after using it. Too easy.

As others have said, it isn't designed to be moved regularly.

But you CAN raise it temporarily or remove it. It does not have different height adjustments. You must depress the "button" on both sides in order to lift it. Plus you have to lift up evenly.

Best to have a second person lift up as you press with a small tool such as a screwdriver. Once you do it once/twice, it is easy. I didn't feel a need to purchase a custom tool.

I printed one of these a while back and just used it this morning and it worked perfectly. Well worth not having to strain and cuss to release that thing by hand.

I use the seatbelt to depress one side and my free hand to depress the other side and it's worked fine.
