One side of mine stopped working. Fortunately the other side continued to work. The buttons on the armrest are just switches that trigger the latches to release. Mobile service replaced the entire lid assembly (meaning both left and right halves). If I had to guess I'd say the switch was failing to make contact or some small connector had come loose. I'd love to look inside but I'm not going to do that to my new ones. I think I'll design and print a 'slim-jim' like @blank-lemur used in his video. If it works I'll post it for use by others.

On my new Trimax, the passenger side center console door only opens about halfway by itself. I can't really feel where the resistance is, but once it's opened, it will pop all the way if I push it near-closed again.

I think there are some tight tolerances with that area....

I'd carefully shoot some dry lube on the hinge points. Those lid halves should fly right open.

That's great. Can't wait for the post where a guy makes one then puts it in the center console so it would be right where he needs it when the time comes.

At the risk of asking the obvious:

Have you banged on it with your closed fist 3-5 times and yelled either the F, C, or Z word?
.... The... "Z" word...?

This happened to my gen2 R1S as well. Picked it up from the service center delivery and one side of the console would slowly open maybe 75% of the way. Luckily I had a service center appointment and they ended up having to replace the entire console assembly.

And yet, it's one of the very few things that can actually fit in the under-seat compartment!

Haha…haven’t tried that yet…but my wife said she did this earlier:)

I think I may be out of luck until mobile service…it is frustrating having to wait 2 months.
I'm 3 hours from the nearest service center. When I tried to schedule a mobile service appointment they told me they didn't have anything. At all. But they'd call me when something becomes available. Luckily they fit me in at the Salt Lake service center and I made the drive.

Waiting months for service appointments is something I really hope they quickly improve upon. That's not very tenable if the goal is to get more people to ditch ICE for EV. A couple years ago I had to have some work done on my F150 Raptor. I called one of the nearby dealerships and they told me 3 weeks. I said no thanks. Called a few other dealerships and had it in and out in less than a week. I know that isn't reasonable for Rivian - but it is the expectation of many people coming from ICE so I do think Rivian has to get better. Quickly.
