FWIW… I BELIEVE I have resolved my issue on this front. I did TWO things… First off I am using a Lectron Adapter.. I got some compressed air and blew out both sides of the adapter, the Tesla plug and the vehicle socket all really well… That seemed to have resolved the issue, HOWEVER I also submitted a trouble ticket with Lectron who asked me to send photos of the adapter sockets and they immediately upon receipt indicated they would replace my unit… I am wondering if there has been a issue before and they have since done an upgrade to resolve (design flaw?) at any rate, new one is working flawlessly (so far..) Note that my adapter was well less than a year old And purchased through Amazon.

Did yours stop charging and restart again?

That's mostly on you... If you weren't comfortable with service being a 4.5 hour drive away then you shouldn't have bought a Rivian. You gambled that you wouldn't have to bring it in and you lost. Take some responsibility for your choices.
Wow…
Hostile much?

Iirc there's some sort of "compatibility mode" you can turn on in Tesla wall connectors that's supposed to prevent errors with non Tesla EVs

Not saying this is not relevant, just in MY case it did not make a difference, and mine is proving out to be more "mechanical" in nature.

Mine did this for a while. SC looked at it, saw that temps were high but not out of spec. Turns out it’s my charger, which is a juice box, so I’m totally out of support or help. Great! ?

Yes... it WAS doing that.
I use a TelsaTap Mini 60 with a v3 Tesla Wall Connector. I also have Lectron adapter that I never used. I will try compressed air and if that doesn’t do it try the Lectron adapter. Our Tesla doesn’t experience any problems.
