I recently took my R1T to service center in SoCal for a clicking sound coming from the front when accelerating and turning. They were super cool and performed quite a bit of work but now the sound seems to be completely gone. Just wanted to post this in case anyone else is having the same issue. Below is a screenshot of the work order. They retrofitted some things from the Gen 2 so now I have a Gen 1 and Gen 2 hybrid lol
I also had them put on new 20” rims and all terrain tires as well as a few different fit and finish fixes.

Do you have any recording of the sound? Mine makes a bunch but just sorta assumed it's normal at this point

I never was able to get it to make the sound when I was recording but for me it was only if I was at a complete stop and then really smashed on the accelerator. Even then it was only 1 out of 15 or so times. Also it sounded like something was slipping or something and it would impede the performance of the vehicle. Meaning I wouldn’t have as much “power” or “torque”. It would only last for a couple seconds then go away. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks!

I am going to Costa Mesa in December for the exact same reason. I have 38K miles. How long did the service take?

Anyone knows what subframe looks like..?

Interesting. When was your Gen1 manufactured? Mine was Feb 2023 and has the single-piece cast subframe, where earlier trucks had a welded unit that was found to crack. It's not what I'd call clicking, but I do get an odd small thunk going over some bumps, but I only perceive it on the driverside-front. Haven't decided if it's worth mentioning to service or not yet.

They had my truck for about 8 days but I also got new rims and tires put on and some other small things. Like fit and finish stuff and new key fob. My loaner vehicle was a Tesla Model 3 lol.

Mine is a 2023. I bought it used with 12k miles from Texas and then shipped to Cali. Right away I noticed that the hood needed a little adjustment as well as the passenger gear tunnel door. But just small things then when I punched the accelerator one day I heard like a pretty distinct clicking sound also noticed less power from the truck while that sound was happening and that day I made a service appointment. Took about 3 weeks to get in. But now I haven’t heard any of the sound when driving or quickly accelerating from a stop.

There was a pretty big thread about this sometime ago, I believe. The speculation was some Gen 1 subframes with bad welds or failing welds, and the Gen 2 subframe is a backwards compatible replacement that's constructed differently.
