The interior that's gonna be available on the standard trim R2 next year is the reverse of what you are describing - white headliner and black seats, etc.After seeing a Tesla with the white interior and a black headliner I think it is a nice combo. Would anyone ordering the Coastal Cloud prefer if it had the same? I think it would also save Rivian a little money using only one headliner for both interiors. Just curious.
This would be my strong preference as well (never quite understood why so so many manufacturers spec an oh-so-basic greige (yes, beige + grey) headliner). Tesla only very recently switched to the black headliner on 3/Y (after discontinuing the S/X which had it from the start) — looks soooo much better in this one person’s opinion. Because lighter headliners make the interior feel more spacious, especially with a pano roof where it all sorta disappears into the overhead sky.
….yes, I’ve heard this response numerous times, and clearly, its a “to each their own” kinda thing, which is fine. But—IMO, also make it feel cheaper, more susceptible to dirt, more pedestrian and waaaay less compelling, at least to this buyer. I’m also not quite sure how an interior “with a pano roof where it all sorta disappears into the overhead sky” doesn‘t feel incredibly spacious already, but, as I wrote, to each their own. For this buyer, its a non-griege headliner 10 times out of 10. Currently loving my Forest Edge green interior (headliner included) with no plans to trade. Happy Friday!
I don’t disagree though full on black is a bit heavy to my tastes. I prefer dark interiors, always have preferred the man-cave versus sunroom look. I’ve been in the new MY with the dark liner. Looks fine, it’s purely a subjective thing.
I would prefer black/dark grey for both the pillars and the headliner because I have large dogs. It will cost you. Buy a second Black Crater R2 and switch the Coastal Cloud interior over.
