Did you transfer existing plates?
You actually can't transfer plates in CO anymore without it turning into a "personalized plate" that you'll have to pay more annually for and lose the picture in the middle.

Has anyone managed to do the special / group plates through Rivian? Or is that something you have to beg your guide to allow you to register for yourself so you can get the special plates through the county office?

Mine are custom plates anyway so I guess that's why I didn't notice in the process.

Are you able to share any link / info about "special / group plates through Rivian"?

The only thing that is mildly annoying is that I still need to go to the Weld County office to order my US Army plates. Rivian didn't have any option to do that. I'm not sure that I'm going to bother doing it until next years renewal.

Rick...been watching and reading your posts for months (very unique avatar :)) and wanted to congratulate you on your new truck! Very happy for you and your family and love the Blue color. I continue to waffle between that and the Yellow...guess we'll see where that lands. I finally get my 1st drive on Saturday and looks like my sons will get to join me. Looking forward to it!

Anyway, glad you got it and the "issues" seem to be minor...take care...

Guess that answers my question on specialty plates. I'll likely be trying to get Rivian to let me register it myself when my number gets pulled. I've had either Share The Road or RMNP plates since I moved to Colorado and don't really want the default plate.

Well...the day finally came. After over <only> 3.5 years, 1,300 days in waiting, I took delivery of an R1S at the Denver SC yesterday evening. Overall experience (8-step email-->actually taking delivery) has been nothing short of amazing....it just took a ton of patience to get there. Many emails of promises and delays, but it finally became a reality. I'm kinda still in shock that it did, but it's real. I hope for the sake of everyone that has been waiting a very long time, and those that are just starting out - Rivian can continue to ramp up production to get vehicles to people s00n-er than later.

I'll do another post w/ my first impressions + pics once a I get a couple drives and experiences under my belt this weekend. But as far as first first impressions go of the R1S, let's just say that my wife and I were not disappointed when we showed up yesterday and saw it just waiting to be driven away.

The drive home was just a tad nerve racking as there was crazy traffic on 25 to 36, and it was all so new, but still, the first drive was everything I had hoped it was going to be and much more.

Cheers to everyone - hope you have a stellar Labor Day weekend!

As we rolled up, I was like...I think that one is finally mine!

One of the service gentleman took this...he hung for a good 10 minutes just chatting about the truck and answering additional questions....and I was like...I hope I dont have to see you anytime soon ;-)

Congrats! I somehow missed this post, and that you took delivery. I look forward to hearing more about how you're liking the R1S! I should have mine in the next week or so... still on a train to El Segundo.

Interesting. When my wife bought her Volvo XC40 Recharge last year, Sil-TerHar honored our CarMax estimate on her Outback and it was well above any other offer we saw, including the in-house Volvo vehicle trade-in estimate.
My general experience as well - CarMax being best offer or the same as best offer. Just sold a Tesla Model S, CarMax $8k higher than what Tesla offered for trade-in. YMMV

Just received my plates and registration from Rivian. They saved me a trip to the DVM (that's worth like $5000 right there). I've honestly never had a dealership in Colorado handle the complete registration process for me.

Hey guys! Finally got to have my 1st Drive at the Denver SC and it was outstanding! Annie was my Rivian "Hostess" <?> and was terrific. Got to do the familiarization tour and drive with my two adult sons and my wife and all but my wife got a chance to drive (she was okay with that). The truck is everything I've read about and more - super smooth, luxurious, fast, gorgeous...you get the idea. Now I"ve just got to throttle back my enthusiasm and just keep waiting.

Of note, I think I'm changing my color preference - I've been team Compass Yellow most of my pre-order time with some forays into the world of Rivian Blue. This time, I got to see Limestone with OC in person and it-is-the-bomb! Really good combo. I adjusted my configuration and was pleasantly surprised to find that by going from Yellow w/BM to Limestone w/OC, I saved $1000 - How awesome is that?!? And as a further bonus, wife likes the Limestone better too!

If you find yourself at the Denver SC, ask for Annie - she is really great and the type of person Rivian wants interfacing with their customers. If you're reading this Annie, Thanks again!

It was a good day!

Congrats on your drive! Before I had mine a couple months ago I had settled in for a very long wait for a drive and even longer for a truck. Then I got to drive it and it made it very hard to keep waiting after that! The good thing is I am an even bigger fan after the drive than I was before. That 0-60 launch is no joke! At least I know now the wait will be worth it.

I didn’t take the Rivian but we ventured to Bill Moore Lake near Empire. This trail is MUCH harder than it was a couple of years ago. The trail has seen a lot of washouts. I don’t recommend taking an R1T unless you have ATs, a spare tire, and the underbody skid plates. Frankly that might not be enough. There are areas that R1T may get stuck.

But if you dare, you are rewarded with some amazing views.
