Got my 8 steps about 10 minutes ago, with VIN! Any advice on how to get custom plates? I've never done that before and have been to the DMV's site, but I am a little uncertain about the process.
I assume that I get the usual temporary paper plates when I get the truck and then get the personalized plates later since it take some time to print them, right? Do I apply for the plates now or wait until I get the truck? What do I tell Rivian about this - I am not sure if it affects them or not?
Also, does anyone know the link to where to check if the personalized plate is available? I found it once, but I am going around in circles now.

Congrats!

You don't need to tell Rivian anything. When you finally get the "time to register your vehicle" card in the mail from Colorado, you'll need to go into the DMV and pay for the registration along with requesting the custom plate. They will give you a new temp plate while you wait a month or two for the custom one. Just note that for some of the custom plates you are required to make a small donation and will need to bring a copy of the donation receipt.

Sorry for all the questions, I'll stop soon I promise!
Looking to trade in my Tesla MS. Waiting on Rivian for price. Got a decent quote from Driveway and have an appt at Carmax. Any local dealers you you of that might give me a good price for it? Not wanting to deal with a private sale.

I'd be interested in this as well. Rivian's offer on my 2021 Model 3LR(14k miles) was pretty low, only 49k. Driveway offered me 55k, still waiting on showmethevin.com, and going to a local dealership Friday to see what they say.

I think you still make out better with the Driveway offer, but remember that if you trade into Rivian you get a sales tax benefit. You only pay the sales tax on the difference between the trade in and the sale price vs sales tax on the full sale price.

It would be great if Rivian made me a competitive offer. Not only save that 8.8% but I could drive the car until the Rivian is actually delivered and fewer monetary transactions. I am hopeful but not very confident given what I've read recently.
Thanks @Andystroh, I'll checkout KBB's dealer tool.

Yeah, I'd save about 4k in sales tax with the trade in but even then it's still about 2k short of driveway so I'll probably end up going with them.

I also just applied for the Xcel EV Charge at Home Program. $13.29/mo and a $50 credit per year is effectively $9.12/mo for the L2 charger. Plus the $500 install rebate *should* help, assuming I find an electrician that qualifies (maybe your neighbor qualifies as part of the rebate).
this is good to know, do you own the charger or does Xcel?

Picked my truck up this morning in Denver. I definitely tested it's rain performance today.

Everything has exceeded my expectation so far. Can't wait to get more miles.

Xcel owns the charger. No equity is gained into ownership of said charger, but alas, it would take a few years (~4.5) to equivocate cost of a $500 wall charger. Plus the added value of "free" charging within the off-peak schedules.

Just a heads up that R1S's have started arriving to the Denver SC. 2 were delivered yesterday. Hopefully lots more on the way!

Whoa! Nice. Was that photo from today? The R1T on the end there in LA Silver with the Adv package and AT's (zoomed on tread) could be mine... ?
