Rivian R1T
Hey Colorado owners,

Been lurking for a while, but it's looking like my R1T should arrive sometime in March ... so thought I'd share my journey as I'm living vicariously through this forum watching you all take delivery and patiently (or not so patiently) awaiting my own delivery notification.

Some backstory ... I originally configured a Quad/Max R1T back in Jan. 2022 as I already had a deposit on a Cybertruck. My attitude was let's see who makes production first, and I didn't really care whether it was Rivian or Tesla. That is, until I did a First Mile drive in Jan. 2023 ...

From that moment I went into overdrive, I had to have an R1T and I had to have it now. I work from home, so my current Tesla Model X has been almost exclusively relegated to hauling my MTB and EMTBs in Summer, and Ski gear in winter (both are not it's natural purpose). After driving the R1T I realized it had the mix of luxury and practicality that was exactly what I was looking for.

I was certainly a little hesitant about the battery range, and I really did like the idea of a Dual Motor with Max as my desired configuration ... but as I kept reading all the reviews I perceive (right or wrong) that the Rivian real world mileage is close to rated, unlike my Model X. So on the advice of my First Mile guide, I changed my Max pack to Large, and simplified my design choices to increase my chances.

Happily, 2 weeks after my First Mile, I got a guide assigned, and 2 weeks later started the purchasing process. Now I'm eagerly sitting at 6 of 8 steps complete waiting, waiting, waiting for the delivery schedule option to appear.

I drive past the Denver Service Center every Sunday and walk the perimeter looking for my BM/OC R1T to be sitting in the lot. Sadly as of yesterday, it still isn't there, but I remain hopeful it's inside the shop getting final preparation, but in my heart I know it's somewhere on a train between Normal and Denver.

I have over $2K of accessories sitting in the garage, with everything from the Ride88 system, to the cross-bars, ski racks as well as the EV1 Running Boards and Rock Sliders (on order).

I'm also hanging for the spare tire to show up in the Gear Shop ... if not I'll happily lead a group of 4 in the purchase of a set of 20"AT (standard). If anyone has interest jumping on board with that let me know.

This is precisely the reason I am switching to an R1T from a Tesla Model 3 - just fits my biking, skiing, 2 kids and a dog active Colorado lifestyle so much better than the Tesla.

I have over $2K of accessories sitting in the garage, with everything from the Ride88 system, to the cross-bars, ski racks as well as the EV1 Running Boards and Rock Sliders (on order).
Glad I am not the only one sitting on a bunch of accessories that were prebought for the truck - I have had all weather mats, jack pucks, snow tires, ski racks, crossbars all waiting for this truck for months!

Loving my R1T here in Salida, CO. So many chargers around! ⚡
Plan to come visit again this summer - rode Monarch Crest last year and need to get me out on some Fooses!

That's nuts. My preorder is before yours and made the same change from Quad+Max to Quad+Large at the end of December. Wound up with April/May delivery window, got guide assigned and confirmed order on 1/6, but still haven't gotten the 8 steps. Guide says I lost access to the shop because my truck was in production, but the VIN hasn't been assigned yet. Your configuration must be more common than mine.

Yes, the fact that it happened so quickly was a welcome surprise. If I were to offer an opinion I think your vehicle is being produced for you, whereas I was matched with a vehicle that was either an order drop by someone else, or excess factory capacity. It was really fast actually ... I was talking to my guide about shop access and within days I get the VIN assigned email. I think the First Mile guide's advice to eliminate all the variables (e.g., I had PPF, and underbody protection and other accessories) really helped get me matched quickly.

I'm somewhat torn as I think the Dual Motor/Max is my "ultimate configuration" but very happy to get this whenever it arrives.

What snow tires did you go with? I run Hakka's on my Tesla and swear by them. Given my expected delivery date in March I was going to worry about snow tires as we get into next season. This is probably the first vehicle where I'll run either the AT's or Winter's all year round as I don't do many summer road miles anymore.

I have the 22's and went with the Michelin X-Ice. I take delivery on Saturday and will probably sit on the tires until next season as it doesn't make a ton of sense to put them on for another month or so. I only have 1 more trip planned to Steamboat in late March and would likely trust the stock Pirellis.

Picking mine up Saturday I can relate
I was thinking of how close our pickup windows were. 4 sleeps to go for you!

I begged my guide to find an earlier time but none were available. I guess it gives me time to put an install plan together for all my accessories. More stuff keeps arriving every day, got my 3D max-spider mats today, my bed-liner from EV1 getting delivered tomorrow and a few more bits and pieces over the week.

I head up skiing each week so very much looking forward to seeing how the stock tires go in the snow as I really didn't think I'd get delivery till end-march when I'm normally done skiing. 7 sleeps to go ...

Got my 8 steps last night...guess it's finally happening! Rivian actually gave me a decently fair offer on my 4Runner, but I question whether they'd follow through with it since it's modified for off-road use with a lift and rock armor. VIN is a 2023 PN0199xx.

Yes! I got the 3D Max-Spider Mats as well, still wondering how those are going to hold up vs. the heavier rubberized mats from Weathertech but we shall see!

My wife has the 3D mats in her Y. They catch all the dirt and slush which I like. The only thing I don’t like is that they show all the dirt really quickly.

So my plan is to use double sided velcro between the 3D mats and the Chilewich mats sitting on top … so I can quickly dust off the Chilewich mats weekly and clean the 3D as required.

At least that’s the plan.
