It is paper thin. I would not feel comfortable in this during a decent hail storm.
What are the standard measurements for roof glass thickness, and how does that compare to the Rivian?

How is one determining a manufacturing defect if they don't indicate the prescribed support limitations? Events described as sitting outside in hot weather and cold weather shock.... that seems like a simple design flaw if it can't handle it... sounds like a class action lawsuit in the works over time here.

Well crap, I thought this was supposed to be an adventure vehicle.
Exactly. I would expect the pano to have integrity similar to a side or rear window. Does anyone think that the side window would crack if you leaned on it with your hand?

So I'm adventuring along in my Rivian adventure vehicle on a wooded trail, and a walnut drops out of a tree. Does the pano crack?

My guess is that we're going to see A LOT of pano roof failures in even light hailstorms, which frequently winds up as a totaled vehicle decision, due to water damage. We had a bad hailstorm in my area years ago, it resulted in over 1,000 vehicles being totaled according to news reports, many due to broken glass.

Bring back the cancelled removable roof panel option. I'll take that over the glass any day.

Heck, I‘d be super happy with a non-removable metal roof. Who needs all the issues that seem to come along with the glass roof - fragile glass, heat issues, the added expense to remediate that heat issue, etc., etc.

Don’t know standard measurements, but we have a bmw with large roof glass and it easily supports leaning on the glass for cleaning or using roof rack. Not so with the R1T.

One week after delivery of R1T leaned on edge next to cross bar to wash glass and it cracked. The break started on the edge where it is glued to body of truck, presumably one of the strongest areas. Hoping Rivian does the right thing and warranties the repairs after examination, but had to agree to a $2,329 repair before they would even look at it. Anyone had any luck getting glass replaced under warranty?

I've had two cars with a full panoramic roof (both Audis) and one with a standard sunroof (Mazda) and I would never considered putting any weight on them and always was conscious of putting anything of substantial weight directly on them. I'm a large man so I'm probably more cautious than most after breaking many things by putting some weight on them but I guess I'm just surprised so many people don't treat their glass roof that way.

I just seen another cracked pano roof today. This one cracked while sitting in the customers parking lot at work. I couldn’t get a good picture of the crack due to the sun glare but, it ran diagonally from driver front to passenger rear.

Unless you specifically indicated you refuse the term in your purchase agreement, you waived the right to class action, and even worse, agreed to mediation as the only dispute remedy.

Yeah just saw that on my agreement, don't have my R1T yet, still think you get enough consistent issues with something they're asking for trouble... If they can't articulate the limitations of their design how can they argue defect vs negligence? Bad press is bad press and it's looking like the start of an issue. Other class action lawsuits vs car companies have been able to overcome arbitration agreements so why can't this one?

Perhaps I am naive but why can't we collectively voice our opinion. We are still early in the production stage where Rivian could switch to a different roof. I'm sure it's complicated but continuing to produce a seemingly defective roof and the resulting consequences maybe more complicated.
