We bought an EV6 GT-Line today. It is a blast to drive and looks great inside and out. So many features. Fit and finish is great. Very quick, quiet and solid

We may have bought the first EV6 in Idaho. Paid MSRP.

For the foreseeable future I think we will be looking for excuses to drive somewhere.
So cool, congrats! We checked one out yesterday and really liked it but couldn’t drive it (customer pre-order). If we can find one with little to no ADM we’ll pull the trigger as well.

We have a standard 3 with LFP battery. My wife was not sure she would like it, but our previous daily driver sucked a valve and was waaaaayyy too much to replace the engine in for the value of the car (2015 328i). We went a year using my GX470 as our everyday car. 2000 miles a month in that thing at CA gas prices had us paying about $800 a month in gas alone. Took about a month of having the 3, saving $$ and a far more comfortable ride, till my wife “convinced” me to preorder the R1T. She’s ready to get rid of my aging and well traveled GX now (250k miles and still a tank).

That’s all to say we’re adding to the livery and keeping the Tesla. It’s been fantastic so far and gets driven 2000 miles a month taxiing my daughters around! I go back to the office 3 days a week starting next month so I’ll be back to the GX till my turn arrives…

Have had a Model X for two years that was unfortunately totaled last month. Taking delivery of a MYP with a tow hitch (just to tow bikes) in March hopefully, but decided two days ago to put also down a deposit on a white R1T with the Max Pack.

I was towing my Airstream with my Model X (with an upgraded hitch receiver), and it “kind of“ worked (range was down to 110-130 miles at speed on the X while towing). Since my X got totaled I’ve been towing with my 2014 Tundra and realized how much I missed a “simple” vehicle to tow with. I feel like the R1T will be closer to my Tundra in towing performance and experience (I’m expecting to get a much better 180-200 miles towing range with the Max Pack). The Y will serve me as a daily driver until the R1T comes in, and then I will probably trade in both the Y and the Tundra at that time.

The more videos and research I’ve been doing on the R1T the more impressed with it (and Rivian) I have become. I still really respect what Tesla has done for the automotive industry, but Rivian seems like a neat niche that will focus more on the things I care about (service, quality, and an outdoor focused mission). The only real unknown will be how service / repair times are for the R1T in ‘24 (when I expect to take delivery). Might consider trading in the wife‘s Cayenne and her moving to the MYP when the R1T comes in so we can move all electric.

Model 3 2018. Selling it as well as our Nissan Lead to get the R1S and an e-gravel bike ?. Three kids (8, 6 and 3).

My wife will get the R1S during the week (working fron home mostly) and I will bike to work-walk kids to school.

I’ll be keeping our 2018 Model 3 LR RWD. It’s still great for a lot of use-cases, but it’s way too small for camping trips with the whole family of four.

If we find ourselves never driving it and the CCS network evolves in the right ways, I’ll sell the 3.

I’d probably have bought an X when it was refreshed if the R1S didn’t exist, but I really dislike those falcon doors.

What are you Tesla owners concerned about or elated about? Thoughts from current Rivian owners (previous Tesla owners or not)???
2019 Model X owner. Currently looking at two vehicles, the R1T as 'my' car and the R1S to replace the model X.

Concerns: Charging network build out status. Buying into yet another startup who thinks their shit doesn't stink, worried about the service.

That is awesome. I really want to drive that car. Best looking new EV by far. Congrats!

2018 M3 MR - keeping it. I commute about 20 miles a day, great car for that.

Buying the R1T to have a truck that will do everything else I need to do. Haven't seen one in the wild here in Dallas, but looking forward to it!!

I also was checking out the EV6, it looks sharp. But none on the lots around me. I don't know why, but the Jeep Magneto has my attention also....but mostly, I can't wait for the R1T!

Rivian R1T, Model Y
A Model Y is part of the current car stable. It has been a great vehicle so far. Over 15k miles and zero issues to report minus a loose rear view mirror.

I have a Lightning, Cybertruck and R1T reserved. I will miss the Tesla Supercharging network if I choose the R1T or Lightning. the Supercharging network is totally painless and has spoiled me. Every detail has been thought out. Its as simple as finding a Supercharger on the display, backing into the stall and plugging in. No cards, PIN numbers, or other BS to deal with. I have yet to find one that doesn’t work. The Tesla software is currently the best in the business. Unlike others companies all of Tesla’s software and coding is done in house.

Each of the trucks has its pro‘s and con’s. What attracts me to the R1T is the 7/8 size of a full size pickup, super car performance on the street, amazing off-road credentials, McLaren inspired premium air suspension, the 4.5 ft bed still carries a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood, quad motor drivetrain and a comfortable and upscale interior.

Man oh man where do I begin. I think the nature of this question is... what are you looking for in a vehicle. I'm going to preface by saying that I've owned the following:

- 2014 P85 (50K miles) - to this day I will never forget this car it was incredible and somehow transported a 75G aquarium and stand in it 0_0
- 2017 Model 3 LR RWD (3k miles)
- 2018 Model 3 LR RWD (30K miles)
- 2020 Model Y Performance (1k miles)
- 2021 Model Y Dual Motor Long Range (5k miles)
- 2019 Model X 100D (30K Miles)
- 2021 Model S Plaid (Current)
- Drive my friends 2021 Model X LR Refresh

ICE Cars: I've had many form factors... and many brands

I know the list is quite long (and I have reasons for changing cars often). Unlike the horror stories you read online my Tesla experience (All of them) have been absolutely amazing and I do not experience these build quality issues or crap service. I literally did nothing to the cars (except replace tires).

First and foremost the form factor of what you want is critical. The R1S and Model X are semi-close in terms of form factor but the R1S has what Tesla will never have and that is a boxy shape.

Service - hopefully you won't need it, but in my experience it's 11/10 at Rivian. Like man they make me feel like a million bucks. With that said, Rivian is also doing things quite differently than Tesla. Build out service infrastructure first an not after (there's many reasons why they can do this vs Tesla at the time but I'll save that for another day).

Charging - it is nowhere near Tesla, but this is the issue all of the other EV makers are relying on third parties. I know areas outside of me it's better but right now... I don't have any good DC fast charging but this is just a matter of time (I hope).

R1T - there is no other pickup truck that's an EV on the market right now, but what I'll say is I wanted a truck bed for my home depot runs. There is a big downside that I hope the aftermarket addresses but it has to do with my family situation (if you have 2 car seats and 2 dogs) there needs to be a cap for the bed. I can put 2 dogs and 2 car seats in my plaid because of the hatch. I feel you on the point of not being a "pick up person," but in those RARE situations you need the bed you'll be thankful (and so will your friends who will inevitably ask you to borrow it-- legitimately happened 4x already). If you are coming from an S, this truck is longer-- I cannot emphasize this enough it's long.

Also, go into it with the right expectations software wise. You probably will since you have a 13 S, but a lot of people are expecting Rivian to have everything in one shot and match what Tesla offers right away. They need to chill. I love Tesla as well but they had 10 years of essentially trial an error and ability to add features as time went on and for critical things (ie. manufacturing) to improve.

Anyway, I hope this helps. Chances are I should make a video of this but we'll see.

I went from a 2012 Model S to a 2018 Model 3 (Wife had a 2014 Model S, now has a 2018 Model S). We both upgraded to get dual motor and more range. Moved in 2020 and realized pickup is required for my lifestyle now. Never ever ever considered one before.

[QUOTE="The biggest concern I have with the R1S, and the main reason I would go with a Model X over the R1S if I could, is the inefficiency of the R1S. If you compare the two models, it isn’t even close; the R1S gets a combined MPGe of 69 and the X gets 102; that is 48% more efficient for the X. I understand you need more power for the 4 motors in the R1S and one is for off-roading while the other is for mall parking lots but if the name of the game is to be more climate change conscious, then the R1S is pretty bad when compared to the Model X.

One is an SUV with off road ability. The other is a hatchback minivan with fancy doors. Apples to oranges.

Before I bought my Model Y I had a Chevy Colorado for 4 years and an F150 Lariat for 2. While I really like my Model Y, especially how great the charging experience is on road trips, I really want a truck again. So its up to Rivian and Ford to deliver to me first to get my money. 90% of my charging will be done at home, so only the couple road trips I take a year might be a bit more sketchy off of the Tesla Supercharger network.

Of course there are concerns. Both the R1T and F150 Lightning are the first generation of the model. So there might be some issues. Ford has issues with dealerships, and Rivian has issues with terrible communication. So there are potential problems there as well. But it'll probably be another 6 months at least before I can get a chance to take delivery of either, so there is a lot of time between then and now.

Own a model Y that my wife drives, we had a model 3 before that, R1S is supposed to arrive this summer. I've always had 4WD SUVs, which I need partly for work and partly for fun. We'll be a full electric household, OK in part because both will be garage kept and can charge overnight. I'm hoping to see Rivian advance the assisted driving. I love using the standard autopilot on tesla.
