Hopefully R1S Soon!
This is a tougher answer - so many factors here. I like a pretty taught suspension... sports cars and high perf suv's. I personally never compared the S to the T - but suspect much of the complaints were due to wheelbase differences and pretty firm settings for the suspension. I feel something that is very reminiscent to BMW - sort of a rear bounce of the bump stops feeling - which others may have never experienced.

The settings have all changed pretty dramatically - so I when I drive in all purpose, I now set it to firm and Sport on firm low... can't say those feel different than before. I think prior default or standard settings were pretty firm and may not have had "moderate" to select from? Can't honestly remember.

If you come from the world of cars or Mercedes SUV (non AMG) or Cadillac/Denalli or even RR not in sport mode, Rivian is going to feel firm and "bouncy". If you tend to drive M / AMG / S / Sport versions of vehicles, you'll probably feel right at home.
Makes total sense. We will be transitioning from an XC90 with 20s and no air suspension. It is a very rough ride on gravel. Our other ship is a Subaru OBW and I strongly prefer how it handles, so that's probably a good clue for me.

The 20 inch tires with a good all season road tire will also likely get much better efficiency than the 22's. Just something to think about down the road.
So potentially better mileage than the 410 estimated with the 22s?

My 2 cents: I have the 22 inch oem tires for spring, summer, fall and an aftermarket set of 20 inch tires with Blizzaks for winter driving. The 22 inch OEM tires are the worst tires I have ever seen for driving on the snow. With the Blizzaks my quad motor gen1 is unstoppable! The 22's give better range but a stiffer ride. The 20's are a much smoother ride and less chance of curb rash but do have reduced range. I live in Colorado and do some winter mountain driving.
Looking forward to seeing how the Rivan does with Blizzaks in deep snow and ice this winter. Are DM-2 the recommend for an R1S?

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Hi, I’m an engineer at Goodyear and worked with Rivian to design the Terriitory AT for the R1. I’m very happy with the performance of the tire on my personal R1T dual max performance (Gen 1). Others have also had great feedback on this tire. I think you’d be very pleased with how this tire performs on the vehicle.
Since Rivian doesn't offer that tire on the PDM configuration, do you have any personal data you can share on the difference between the 22" Pirelli and the Goodyear when it comes to range? Looks like a 5% reduction on the Standard trucks.

so what’s the go-to size on these? 275-60 or 275-65?

I don’t have any personal data on the 21” or 22” options. Some have had impressive efficiency numbers with lightweight Atomic rims and the 20” Goodyear. This thread has good info and feedback… https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...-20-factory-at-tires-saving.37522/post-722180

There are a few in inventory with PDM + 20" AS and they have it estimated as 380mi.
Bear in mind the range figures on the website are EPA-certified theoretical max, based on data collected under specific test cycle. Real world result is subject to many more factors and will be lower than that.

Yes possibly. The tire itself will matter but the smaller diameter wheel will always get better efficiency if all else is equal. The only reason the 22’s get better range on the website is because it’s a low rolling resistance road tire. Put the same thing on the 20’s and you’ll get even better.

What is the specific Goodyear Territory AT designed for the Rivian? Can you provide the specific name / size of this tire? I have R1T with almost 40K on the original AT, about time for replacement. Also, anyone have thoughts on the new updated Pirelli AT tires?

Here’s the link to the Rivian-specific Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT: https://www.goodyear.com/en_US/tires/wrangler-territory-at/24354-73409564000000.html?back=tireFinder

And here’s a Tire Rack listing for the same tire: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...ckwall+Alternate+Design+3&partnum=76HR0WTATXL

Just a quick heads-up for anyone browsing the Goodyear site:
• The image currently shown is not the updated Rivian-specific version.
• The Gen 2 275/60R20 tire size—which fits both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Rivians—isn’t yet recognized under the vehicle info tool. You’ll likely see a warning, but checkout still works fine.
I’ve raised these issues internally with the Goodyear team, and hopefully they’ll be addressed soon.
