Has anyone else had problems with their trucks telling them to reset the display software (soft reset) almost daily? I dread going out to my truck in the morning and seeing that message pop up on my screen telling me I need to reset the truck. I have done a hard reset once. Maybe I need to do that again. This is getting ridiculous.

Not sure if this is the same issue. My info center was cycling on and off. Vehicle drove fine but would loss visibly on the screens. They would cycle and I could adjust things when the screen refreshed. Road side assistance (RSA) had me try many things of which none worked.

Problem persisted for well over a month many calls with RSA and then RSA had me take to the SC. SC did a factory reset of the info system and not sure of the procedure. Everything is currently working. They indicated Rivian is aware of the issue and it affects a few vehicles and the engineers are looking for a solution which sounds like a firmware update.

Suggestion might be is to call RSA and ask them to walk you through Factory reset. It is currently not on their procedure list but the SC said if it happened again call them and they would walk me through on how to do this.

Thanks RKRivian. I have actually done the “hard reset” a couple times now. That seemed to help with everything. Now I am doing the “soft reset” less. One of the things that I noticed was that the music/entertainment system comes online more quickly now than it had before. Before I had to wait easily 15 or 20 minutes before it would say that there is a signal.

After the last hard reset, I thought the problem was resolved actually until this morning when I got in my car and it said that I had to do a soft reset again. Argh. I have a service ticket in but the soonest appt in my area is in March!

To clarify, It is not a hard reset (Hazard and left button on steering wheel). It is a factory reset and you need to go into the service menu.

Ok. Thanks. Didn’t know there was a 3rd option. I’ll check that out.

I just had my info center going through an “auto reset”. Pretty scary.
Truck was operational but no climate control, navigation… nothing

My R1S 2nd generation is plagued by the daily reset upon putting the car into reverse. This started happening a handful of days after taking delivery. Service had the car for a week and replaced the ECU. Picked the car up on Saturday. It was fine the rest of Saturday. Sunday, the car wouldn't go into drive unless we performed the software update. That was done. Woke up this morning; and the error has returned. Has anyone stumbled upon a service center/fix which resolves this issue?

Same issue here. It’s infuriating. I actually think it went away for a while and then it returned after the most recent software update. It’s almost always when I put in reverse the morning after charging, definitely something to do with the camera system as everything else works fine.

Same for me. I get in the truck and everything seems fine. Shift in to reverse which normally triggers the back up camera. Instead of showing the camera view, the screen says to do a reset.

I'd just open a ticket and see what they say, as owners we really on have the reset option, if that doesn't work it needs to go to Rivian.

I was having something that sounded very similar to this: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...customer-close-to-giving-up.40030/post-732243 , do you have preconditioning enabled? This was hitting me every time I put the truck into reverse in the morning, but I was also getting reset notifications at other times as well - though this may have been due to the faulty camera module... Note that for me hard (disco pose) resets did not fix the issue - and may have also caused a very very scary braking incident.

Software Reset Issue:
The prior USB device theory had been ruled out, and Rivian had identified a bug during cabin preconditioning/charging where a module fails to wake, triggering a system reset request. This appears specific to the combination of ECUs used in my build.
A permanent fix is planned in the 2025.07 software update, scheduled for release around March 4th.
As a stopgap, they cleared the processor cache in one of the ECUs to help try to avoid further reset demands until 2025.07 is out.
