Damper module replacement

I was just informed that the left front damper module needs to be replaced and the part won’t be available until October 16 according to service center. I also see that a supplier can deliver OEM damper in 4 days according to their web site and is in stock. Has anyone out there run into similar situation?

It is disturbing to say the least that the service center says it will take three months to deliver a part. On top of that it may actually be available in 4 days.

So is it drivable?
It sounds like a problem you did not even notice?
Maybe just weeping a little fluid and they want to replace to be proactive?

Sounds like they are prioritizing their work to take care of safety issues and broken vehicles that don't drive.

Sounds like they are prioritizing their work to take care of safety issues and broken vehicles that don't drive.
Sounds like they are prioritizing profits by selling cars they cannot remotely service in a timely manner. This is why folks are really frustrated with Rivian in the Bay Area.

Fun and adventures — yes for sure. Been on several very long trips including eclipse chasing in April.

But it’s hard to not be frustrated when your truck is in shop for 3-4 months waiting for a part!

Ahhh missed that it is in the shop waiting for part I thought you got it back while they waited for the part.

Generally, used parts have different warranties and I’d be curious as to how the part warranty plays with the car’s warranty.

Only the SC can confirm it would be OK. I would get it in writing.

Did they give you a Rivian loaner? If so I would just plan a few cross country road trips an be happy the miles aren't going on my vehicle.

Rivian isn't making any profits, they loose tens of thousands of dollars per vehicle just to deliver it. Service only adds to the loss. It's a lower loss than before ~30K vs 80K, but still a loss.

Be frustrated but know being a new automaker isn't easy and it's messy. People are expecting more and no new automaker can delivery an experience of a legacy automaker (not even legacy automakers can everywhere). Not an excuse, just the reality of the situation.
