I picked up my new R1S on Thursday and all was A1 part from a minor door alignment that I can wait for the 1st service visit. However, after checking out max volume on the audio (great!) I got the well documented dash speaker/grille buzz/vibration/rattle. I saw some fixes on here like pushing down to "reconnect" the grille (didn't work for me) and pushing foam into the grille/windshield gap (didn't want to do that).

What worked for me was using my fingertips to grip the leading edge of the grille at about 1 'o'clock from the drivers seat and slowly but firmly pull back hard toward me. I kept up the pressure for about 20 seconds, and hey presto, rattle is gone. I'll still get it looked at when I get a service visit but for now, I'm happy.

Update: The rattle came back after 2 days but I discovered that lifting the edge of the grille nearest the center console a tiny but made it disappear. It turns out a credit card is the perfect thickness and if you slide one in, you'll hopefully get the same result. There's something that stops the card going all the way in (good) and so I cut an old credit card (grey one) to the appropriate size and pushed it in. I'm 5' 10" and can't even see that part of the grille, but even for taller drivers I think it's not that noticeable.

Can you please post a pictures showing your hand location when you’re doing this? I’m probably not the only one who’d like to try your fix but some folks are going to misread / misinterpret and we’ve all heard: a picture is worth a thousand words. Thank you!

Here you go ... you'll feel for the edge of the metal grill. It's only a small lip but enough to get a grip with fingertips.

Thanks! Mine seems to be in place with no movement or improvement. I bet this will help other people, though.

Bear in mind I didn't hear any movement or clicking. I just held it with as much pressure as I could for as long as my fingertips could take. Maybe try a bit to the left and right?

My R1T did this after they did some work on my dash. I can confirm the above method with a "back and downward" force was enough to correct the issue for a while.

It seemed to come back after it sat in the sun and the plastics flexed, but the same technique resolved it.

OK, this is hilarious, but I think this might have helped (as a temporary solution) for our R1S. We're looking at another month before they can come out to fix ours, so we've had a wash cloth stuffed in the dash.

I tried the above technique, and the grill audibly and visibly *popped* into shape. Instead of being wobbly, it's now gently curved, more like our R1T.

If you put any pressure on the grill, it pops back in, so it's not a permanent fix, but given that it's significantly more rigid, I think this will work for a fix for now.

We had grill rattle and the service center just put a piece of foam under it. You could actually see the foam sticking up a little if you looked for it. We've had the dash replaced since then because they cut it while working on it.

I updated the original post with a better fix (see above), so just bumping here for anyone interested. I have a mobile service booked and I will keep that only to ask how they would fix it. If they sound confident I may let them do it, but I read above that sometimes the grille can be damaged so I'll make the call at the time.
