Things happen. I’m impressed with the stories of the Rivian team working to help people out on this thread.

I’m always curious, too: how is it still Rivian SUV/Pickup vs Tesla cars. The reason we waited to go elec was waiting for a true full size SUV.

And if elec is your only consideration, there are now a plethora of pretty great options: there are a ton of mid sized SUVs before going back to a car.

This is hilarious that the OP thinks that Tesla is somehow better. I’ve had four Teslas now and every single time there was some type of body damage or issues that they wouldn’t tell me unless I specifically inspected it thoroughly and had to make them fix those issues. And then here comes the OP complaining that Rivian proactively, before he even picks it up found these issues and is trying to fix it.
Bad luck to you I guess.

I think OP has made it clear in all the posts I’ve read so far that this is a tall order. Grammar, punctuation, and coherent sentence construction do not seem to be skills he possesses or prioritizes (at least not on this forum as far as I can see).

I rarely agree with the “good riddance, we don’t need your type around here” mentality, but honestly, if OP is this upset about the SC trying to rectify cosmetic issues before delivery, I’d rather not hear about all the issues he finds after delivery and through ownership.
Yeah you not wrong, since you get a perfect vehicle that you’d expected. Not a all messed up brand new car needing major replacements.

exactly. What model Tesla can someone buy as a replacement to an R1? Cybertruck? As if those aren’t riddled with their own set of problems?

Why you so interested in only Tesla? I only said sticking Tesla cause I own them already. Not that I’d buy a Tesla over Rivian.

This is bit harsh. No need to make it personal. Many simply interact on the phone and are used to text-like informal communication.
You’re right—that was a bit salty. I understand that some text/email/post in this way, but it makes it hard for me to take as seriously (or often even understand) the content of the message when the constructions lack punctuation or coherence. And just because it is a trend, doesn’t per se mean that all need give it the same attention as more articulate or carefully worded posts/texts/emails/etc.

That being said, my response was ad hominem, which is just another of the many problematic trends in online discourse. For that, I apologize.

But, more to the point: if this proactive attention to making a cosmetic issue right taken on the part of the SC before delivery that resulted in a delivery delay is as upsetting to the OP, then I can’t imagine how irritated they will be if they end up with anything less than a unicorn R1 that never has to go in for warranty issues in the first year(s) of ownership.

I did see their last post, and hope that they take this approach moving forward, otherwise they will almost all but certainly be frustrated and disappointed when the thing has to go back to get something fixed that “shouldn’t” have broken (I can’t count how many major manufacturing/design defects and resulting issues we’ve experienced in the years of owning four R1Ts).

With our four R1Ts, spanning from VIN 5852 to 33523, I honestly can’t say any of ours have been particularly reliable or trouble free trucks. Gen. 2 seems to have solved a lot of Gen. 1 issues, but also seems to have introduced new and different ones.

It’s still early days for Rivian as a new auto manufacturer, and being on the cutting edge often means you get cut and bleed a little. I don’t recommend anyone buy a Rivian if they expect perfect reliability—I wish I could, but my experience and all that I’ve seen over the three years of ownership indicate that this is the exception rather than the rule. I just hope OP goes into this purchase knowing that they will likely experience some post-delivery issues too.

Never hit the send button when you're angry----before you respond...I have/Had a Rivian in Japan, guess where the closest service center is....some cosmetic poo poo, I would not go smearing Rivian over that, the truck didn't leave you stranded 6,135 KM from anyone that can Pronounce RIVIAN

Delivery day today, they called said there’s water spots detailed can’t remove. Talked to service said it’s pretty bad need to replace whole front fascia. For now no timeline but rescheduled a week out…… already want to just cancel stick with Tesla
Hats off to Rivian for catching, being honest and trying to fix. Shit happens and they will still deliver. Just not as fast as you may initially like. Be patient as Rivian will get it done right. This is why there is a QA/QC process before you receive.
